I've tried cm7 and ar2.3 on the precedent, for a decent amount of time each, and every time the same problem happens.

When i first install the rom, my battery life is amazing, for example on cm7, i can go about 10 hours on 5-10% battery with wifi bluetooth, and mobile data off, yet still texting a very frequent amount, but then slowly day by day, my battery gets worse and won't keep up its amazing life.

For instance, I've had ar2.3 on my precedent for the past week and a half.

It started off with good battery life, i'd normally get home with around 80ish percent, for a 10 hour day.

Now, after a week and a half, i get 6-7 hours before my phone will die, while before my phone would still be around 85% after 6 hours.

What seems to be the problem? it happens every time.

over flashing of roms seems to kill the calibration on the battery. if you follow the link below it will help you re-calibrate it and hopefully regain your amazing battery life. =)

Has anyone got this to work.  I'm running arearom 2.3.7 and my battery life is down the drain. I would like to recalibrate the battery but I don't see a file with the name described in the link above...

I haven't tried this yet but I did find the file. Are you using a root explorer app? If you're not you wont see it because it is in /data/system/batterystatsbin

isint there a way in clock work mod to wipe your battery memory. I have done this with some good results
charge full, power off, charge full, power on charge full, boot into clockwork mod
wipe battery memory or battery cash ect
now reboot your phone and kill the battery, after it dies, turn it back on and kill it some more
now charge full again and you should be good to go for a while.
atleast this is what i read somewhere for my samsung epic 4g on xda somewhere
    hope it helps

I just had my battery last 12 hours 6 am unpluged - and at 9pm i still had 34%. perhaps you have a bad cell in your battery and you need to replace it. Like trans flash its not a question of if a battery will go bad but when, and that "shelf life" or "usable life" varies. I have some NiMh batts that have lasted for 10 years, others 6 months, the same tecnology.

you can calibrate, delete battery stats, whatever if it makes you feel better but its not going to help.its the nature of the beast.you have a 3-5" screen that saps juice.you have multiple apps running in the background.unless you wanna spring for an extended battery, you will just have to turn off data when you are out n about.wifi is a massive battery killer and so is the facebook app as well as power hungry 3D games.my battery lasts about as long as my PSP and thats totally expected.

    thoughts:
perhaps there is a way to deactivate a border portion of pixels
    set you backlight lower
check the voltage and mAmps coming off your battery, see if theres a problem
buy a new mor energy effecent screen that will connect to the samsung precedent with no problems
(beware i replaced a samsung screen with an lg screen on an acer minibook and because of a one wire diffrence when the pc shut down the backlight was set to maximum, draning battery unless removed) so make sure the buyer you try has a good refund policy.

I'm amazed at the Apps that constantly run in the background with the android OS.even Apps I never open or use run in the background sapping juice.

I combat the background running apps with advanced task manager pro set to autokill every five mins and also kill when screen turns off. In addition I use rom toolbox pro auto memory manager set a little higher than aggressive. It seems to work pretty well that way. And I froze all the apps that I rarely use like Gmail, also I deactivated the recievers that start up all those constantly running apps

You do know that rather than freeze system apps that you never use,you can delete them.ultimate backup and several other tools by jrummy16 allow removal of system apps.

Task killers aren't needed on froyo and above.I get heat for this but its true.with 2.2 Google does not allow system apps and service apps to be force killed.they just restart as soon as you kill them.wasting battery power.so task killers end up using more power than if you didn't use them.

Yeah they could be removed..... but I like to keep them handy in case i decide to actually use them. I almost never need google maps. so it stays frozen but I keep it around just in case.

As far as the task killers go, i have found that some apps will not work properly with the recievers disabled. There are a few apps that have a ridiculous number of them. I believe that the google goggles have around 20 or so that are associated with all different functions of the phone and will activate the app to run in the backround, like if you connect to wifi to download for a couple minutes, goggles will keep running in the backround until killed. It's convienant that once i finish downloading and shut my screen off, it is automatically killed.

So I have noticed that advanced task killer both on 2.3.7 gb arearom, cyogenmod 7.1, and android 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 that if I kill task, some reboot instantly like widgets and google talk and google+ that use the home screen or sync data in background. But it dose kill browsers and things like that and frees some ram.

Advanced task killer is ok. Personally I have gotten much better results with Advanced Task Manager Pro. It keeps talk and google play from running all the time as well (at least on my precedent anyway) I'm also running the Romtoolbox memory manager too though.

90% of the time the only running services showing on my phone are

    Advanced task manager 5.7mb
    Google services             8.5mb
    Dspmanager                 3.0mb
    Androidkeyboard           6.9mb
    Widgetlocker                 8.9mb

    88mb used           170mb free

And I am running the following widgets/apps
    apw messaging/calendar
    Widgetlocker
    news and weather
    youtube
    power widgets
    google search
    clock
    atomsrss news scrollable
    music
    Romtoolbox memory manager
    Setcpu widget

Why download an app for somthing cwm dose already?

And overclock to your hearts content
Use cpu controle to overclock while the screen is on and underclock when the screen is off, in call, charging, and overheating [which never happens to me] down to 400mhz or so. Doing this should actualy increase battery life with overclock. Best of both worlds right?
