Does anyone know the algorithm to obtain these codes for the Proclaim? If not, does anyone have a working full version of CDMA Workshop that could run my MEID in the calculator and get this? If I can get this code, I'll be able to post a tutorial on how to enhance call quality, and possibly speed up the 3g data by removing the stock proxy set by Verizon.

Update: I have tried all the methods I can exhaust to get my MSL/SPC, but most of these methods require that the code be in the build.prop file, which in our case, it is not. Even using alogcat and opening the secret menu I can't get it to show the code. If anyone knows a different way to get it, please let me know.

What is the numeric code to even open the secret menu. I can't even find that. *#9090# is all I've found & that does nothing for me.

Go to your dialer and enter ##DATA# or ##3282# which will bring up the EPST menu
Once the menu pops up just select "View Mode"
At this point you will see a screen with 3 selections.
From here either press and hold the Home Key and select aLogcat if you ran it before, go to your tray and run Logcat.
After opening Logcat it will update, once it finishes press "Menu" and "Pause" the log.
Then scroll until you see a group of entries labeled "I/EpstBroadcastReciever" which should be green
Locate the line that has "MSL Code=" at the end of it

Or press Menu and Filter "MSL" (depending on your phone)
And there you have it, your 6-digit MSL code without ever calling sprint or using a computer

Before doing this make sure you have aLogcat. Also its easier to find your MSL if you go into logcat and "clear log" before doing these steps

I've tried ##3282# and a couple others. They do nothing for this phone. I do have alogcat. Just can't get into the epst menu. ??

Kway, it seems that Samsung/Straight Talk have disabled the code entry, on the dialer, for the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, SCH-S720C. You can access the secret codes using an app from Google Play. The app is called Secret Codes Revealer. The app will list the codes and you can choose the code you want to launch. Some codes show status information. Other codes that allow you to change settings (for good or for bad) ask you to enter the SPC or MSL number. Finding the MSL or SPC (same number) is the point of this thread. Once someone finds a way to get the MSL number you can access secret menus using the secret codes. You can even activate the secret code access using the dialer. The issue here is getting the MSL code/number. Again, Samsung/Straight Talk have hidden the MSL code so conventional methods, that were used on other phones to get the MSL code/number, do not work on the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim SCH-S720C. From what I believe, the MSL or SPC code/number is unique for each phone. The illusive MSL code/number is the key.

To Gronk1337, I have read your post on the Straight Talk support web site. I have also been spending time trying to find my MSL/SPC code. I have used Alogcat app and adb logcat > filename.txt to try to capture the MSL code. In the data that I have captured, the last reference to the MSL is I/MSL_Checker( 1112): MSL response incoming!! The response never comes.  My question is this. Can the activation number (*22890) be dialed a second time? If dialing the activation number a second time will not screw up the phone then maybe the MSL/SPC can be captured with Alogcat or adb logcat command. Any thoughts?

I've spent most of this evening trying to beat this. The first time I tried the activation number I let it go all the way through. It made me reboot so I couldn't get anything from alogcat. Second time I stopped it just before the service hangs up. Checked alogcat and NO INFO was there. I had it set to filter msl.

Kway, thanks.  Using Alogcat and the filter may work on other phones. I like using adb logcat > filename.txt command, from the pc side, to capture all data transactions and then search the data.
I will have to try reactivating for myself to see what I can capture Straight talk/Phone transactions before reboot.
Won't happen tonight, Saturday 11PM, too much cake and ice cream. LOL
    Later :)

Ok Iam attempting to find my MSL code and I want to try and do this without root....

    What I know so far:

Hidden Menus are disabled and we need to enable them, but your need your MSL to do this.

There are a handful of Hidden menus already unlocked but need a code(including the one that will enable the others)

    Methods I have tried:

Alogcat - fail, it never spits out the real code

    terminal $getprop ril.MSL  - Fail, There is no ril.MSL

Terminal $getprop - Fail, I tried every 6 digit number that thing spits out (you can also see hidden menus are disabled in this output)

CDMA WorkShop - Fail, Phone needs to be in DM mode for it to read the phone, need the MSL to get it into DM mode

ESN/MEID/MIN Converters - Fail, They only seem to work on MetroPCS phones

MSL Market Apps - Fail, They all try to use the $getprop ril.MSL method, which we know wont work.

    Known Working Hidden Menus:

**87284 (**usbui) - This is to place the phone in PDA/USB modem mode (no MSL required)

**33284 - This should be the one for DM mode

*#22745927 - This should be the one to enable the hidden menus

Post any progress you guys have,

    Thank You,
    PureEvil

Attached is a log.txt file recorded from cpu while doing the *22890 activation. Nowhere in the entire log did I find and number related to spc, msl or lock code.
So, I figured I would try calling in and requesting the number. After 45 mins on the phone w/ supervisors and managers they try to tell me they don't have it in their system. I, not so politely, tell them they are full of S*#T.

    I'll keep trying...........

I have the files for the MSLchecker and hidden menu's and Iam going threw them trying to figure out how it works. If I can figure out how it checks it, the algorithm used to convert the esn/meid or whatever it uses I should be able to make a converter for it.

But there is a ton of info here and dont know if I will be able to figure this one out, I will keep at it.

THIS IS NOT anything I take credit for. I found this over at XDA. I can verify it WORKS!!! I now have my msl/spc code and have access to the data/hidden menu area.
Thanks goes to glitchbit for finding this.

So after spending too much time at this I happened over an interesting method.. and that was to simply use the free LauncherPro and create a shortcut on the main screen for com.android.hiddenmenu.advanced. You simply install LauncherPro and hold down on the main screen to create a shortcut then go into Activities and scroll down to com.android.hiddenmenu and there are a ton of options there. A lot of them will not actually open up even when you try this method but advanced will open and ask for a SPC code and when it fails aLogCat will log the correct code!!

    So to sum it up
    1. Download LauncherPro
    2. Download alogcat & use msl filter
    3. Create a shortcut/activities
    4. com.android.hiddenmenu.advanced
    5. open the shortcut and type in a bad SPC
    6. Success you have now logged your SPC in alogcat.

Just be careful with the SPC, because I broke the 3g on my Proclaim messing with the settings in some hidden menus, and even a full wipe and factory reset won't fix it. Tried calling Straight Talk to get the data re-provisioned but they don't know what they're doing so my Proclaim is done for. I can confirm that this method works, though. Good job finding it.

The offer is appreciated, but I already put the settings back to default, and it hasn't fixed my data. I was posting that more as a warning for anyone who tries to fiddle with these settings. Just be sure you know what you're doing. My data was working fine until I messed with the voice settings (oddly enough seeing as they're separate modems) in an attempt to raise my call quality.

My mistake, i thought they used different modems for 3g and 2g signals. Either way my data is still fubar'd lol. Once I get my new phone, I'll be able to test whatever it was you posted about DroidHost, if you still need a tester. After that, I'll be returning my Proclaim and moving on to the Galaxy S2. I'm buying a T-mobile one and unlocking it to use the at&t sim card in it.
