My mistake, i thought they used different modems for 3g and 2g signals. Either way my data is still fubar'd lol. Once I get my new phone, I'll be able to test whatever it was you posted about DroidHost, if you still need a tester. After that, I'll be returning my Proclaim and moving on to the Galaxy S2. I'm buying a T-mobile one and unlocking it to use the at&t sim card in it.

you will not be happy using a tmobile phone with a at&t sim tried it and could not get 3g only had edge data network because the tmobile phones use a different gsm freq for 3g than AT&T

The T-mobile Galaxy S2 has quad band GSM, so it supports the AT&T frequencies from what I've researched. Comparing the T989 (Tmobile) model to the I9100 (AT&T) model shows they both support the same bands for both 2g and 3g networks (2g: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and 3g: HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100) so it should work fine. Worst case scenario, I can return it and spend $50 extra for the AT&T version that Straight Talk offers. It would be missing the NFC of course, but I suppose I can live with that.

Just thought I'd give an unrelated status update on the GS2 I picked up. Unlocked it and put the SIM in, and I do indeed pick up 3g from time to time, mostly I'm getting HSDPA and HSDPA+ (4g) but when I don't have coverage for that, 3g does pick up. Speed tests have me sitting around 5-6mb/s download and just under 1mb/s upload. My Proclaim bricked itself the other day when I rebooted it, but I can still get to download mode, so if you want me to test anything, I'll be happy to try until the walmart I work at gets the optimus zip in stock.

I wouldn't recommend the optimus zip.  My sister-in-law got that phone and installed like 2 apps and is out of space!  I think it's only got like 512 available while the proclaim has 1gb.
Also, why would you get another phone when you have the GS2?  Just curious.

It already states how to find the MSL/SPC code. If you're wanting the lock code it's 000000

Just be careful with the SPC, because I broke the 3g on my Proclaim messing with the settings in some hidden menus, and even a full wipe and factory reset won't fix it. Tried calling Straight Talk to get the data re-provisioned but they don't know what they're doing so my Proclaim is done for. I can confirm that this method works, though. Good job finding it.

I just did the same to my data ..  :-\

must be a way to make it work again ...

THIS IS NOT anything I take credit for. I found this over at XDA. I can verify it WORKS!!! I now have my msl/spc code and have access to the data/hidden menu area.
Thanks goes to glitchbit for finding this.

So after spending too much time at this I happened over an interesting method.. and that was to simply use the free LauncherPro and create a shortcut on the main screen for com.android.hiddenmenu.advanced. You simply install LauncherPro and hold down on the main screen to create a shortcut then go into Activities and scroll down to com.android.hiddenmenu and there are a ton of options there. A lot of them will not actually open up even when you try this method but advanced will open and ask for a SPC code and when it fails aLogCat will log the correct code!!

    So to sum it up
    1. Download LauncherPro
    2. Download alogcat & use msl filter
    3. Create a shortcut/activities
    4. com.android.hiddenmenu.advanced
    5. open the shortcut and type in a bad SPC
    6. Success you have now logged your SPC in alogcat.

I've sucessfully used this method on my proclaim(FB07). The problem however, is I just bought my wife a proclaim (LI02), and the loop hole has been closed. I've since looked at the HiddenMenu.odex from both phones in a hex editor. They both contain the string "MSL response incoming!". But only the FB07 contains "MSL result :". I've tried coping the FB07 apk and odex to the newer phone, but HiddenMenu wont load. Would there be any way to trick the LI02 into running the older version? Or should i downgrade, then upgrade again, to get the MSL.

I've also tried deodexing, and decompiling, I'm having a problem, there is no code, and the two strings are not listed in the resources.

    Thanks,
    God Bless
