Using a Straight Talk LG L38C. And yes, I am a total noob. Used to have a Rooted Droid X on verizon, but my friend rooted it for me.

OK, so I tried this last night. Did not work. On the phone, had the unknown source thing checked along with the stay awake while charging option. I cannot remember if the SD car was unmounted or not. USB storage on. Went through the process and got the "credits", the thank you's to everyone who helped make this, pressed any key to continue, and the command prompt went away. Super user was on my phone, and it opened, but there was nothing in it. restarted my phone, still nothing in super user and could not tell if was rooted or not, and could not remove any bloat ware. Tried this twice with the same result. I saw the batch file in the OP, unzipped and replaced the file with the new one. That bricked my phone I think. It would come to the blue TracPhone load screen for about 10 seconds, go to a blank light grey screen for about 10 seconds and keep going back and forth. I tried the power button/volume down restart a few times, same thing. Pulled the battery and let it sit for about 10 minutes, same thing, except after the first showing of the blue screen it went to a half second flash of my old background, and then back to the blue screen/grey screen cycle.

I took the phone back to wallie world this morning and got a new one. So my question is, what did I do wrong? Did I not have the drivers installed correctly. I clicked on the link and it DLed it. I really wanna root this phone, to free up memory, but dont want to brick it again.

Thank you very much for this.
I was able to root my phone using this guide with ease. The one thing I will say to anyone who tries to do this, Is make sure your getting the files from a PC as downloading them thru the phone and then onto the PC did not work at all for me.

I have SuperUser on my phone but as mentioned above, It has nothing in it. I was able to get a root only type app and it is working perfectly right now. However, I did try to run the adb that was in the zip and after clicking on it, It would show up but disappear right away. Did I miss something? I too would like to rid of some things on here to obtain a bit more memory.

Wow.

You guys should really research a bit. Imposable to brick your phone with this if your using the right oneclick with the right phone. If you have superuser then it worked & is rooted. There really is no need to open the superuser app.

Ok, so I had it right the first time. DONT replace the .bat file with the batch file in the lower link. Gotcha.

However, how do I get rid of the bloatware? Superuser has no info in it when I open it, and I cannot delete the unwanted apps through the "Manage Apps" method. How do I rid myself of them? I will try it again tonight, and if anything I will just use Links2SD and move the garbage there for now.

Try Root Uninstall. It is Noob friendly until you learn how to do it with a file explorer.

I ran this today and for a little more than an hour my phone has been rebooting over and over every 5/6 seconds. I know it was supposed to "reboot a few times", but for over an hour? What do I do to stop it if it doesn't stop on it's own? Help!

Eta: eight hours later and it's still in a reboot loop. Only stops when I pull the battery. I've tried every possible button combo, but nothing works.

ETA: So... I finally got the reset to work. Thankfully the phone is less then a month old and I didn't lose too much. I ran the oneclick again and now I'm rooted.

Wow, worked great!  Thank you so much!  I have been googling for 2 days trying various methods but nothing was working and nothing else specifically said it would work for the l38c.  Why did I wait 2 days to try this one you ask?  Too lazy to spend 1 minute to register to see download link.   ::)

BUT... Now my phone is rooted and I have superuser but how do I get apps to install to my SD card now?  I'm still getting "low on space" notifications.   I can't figure it  out.

Edit:  Ok, I see now that I have to partition my SD card, so nvm about that.  And thanks again!

Edit:  Ok, an hour after my last edit and I'm back again.  Someone please tell me what app works to partition the SD card on this phone!  I've tried several things in the past hour and each one ends up telling me it won't work for some reason or another.

...about to throw this think at a brick wall.

Ohhh Ohh oh.. I think I figured it out... put the SD card in my PC to format it.... DUH!

I normally don't get the pop up to save file until after it is already done. I don't know why but try clicking it then go do something.

Thank you! This worked on my little step brother's straight talk prepaid phone. I cant thank you guy enough! Rooting the LG Optimus Dynamic LGL38C was easier than searching google for how to root the phone itself.  ;D

I only have one nagging problem. I have a problem partitioning the external SD card properly so I can use Link2SD. I've tried all the tutorials on how to partition the SD card for Link2SD but they all seem not work for me. I can only mount one partition at a time. When I use CWM or Mini Tool Partition Wizard Manager to create a 2nd partition, I can only mount the 2nd Ext3 partition, my phone wont recognize the 1st fat32 partition. I even rebooted and tried formatting only the first partition again to fat32. If I use the GParted live CD to format the SD card, my phone will only recognize the 1st partition (fat32) but Link2SD cant create a mount script to mount the second partition (ext2 or ext3).

I pretty much just gave up and just decided my lil bro can live with only a second partition at 2 GB and live without having a normal 32fat external SD memory. At least he can use Link2SD to have more system memory for more apps.  :-\
