Biggest card I've tried is a 16g. I've use Wi-Fi tether on it. Link2SD doesn't work right with the recovery or phone.

Feeling like a moron. Can not get phone to root.  I followed all instructions and this is what I get
Rooting device.......
Specified path not found
Specified path not found

Device found....Good

Flashed thru a lot of command lines really fast and then I got the thanks screen.
Nothing happened on the phone side.

I have no superuser app showing up.  Yes it's the LG l38c from straight talk.  Just bought it Friday and I've been trying to get it rooted.  Been a frustrating way to spend my birthday.  Any help would be greatly appreciated cause I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Had the same problem. I am no techy though so I payed some one to install it for me.
When you downloaded and installed the drivers did you reboot your computer? It was suggested that, that might have been my problem.

Thank you so much to DroidHost, JCase, and all of the other people here at area51 that put time into this and for answering questions.  I will confirm that this method does work for the lgl38c on Net10, as I had only seen people with straight talk try it on this thread.  Great job!

I am totally new to this idea (rooting) and have some very basic questions. Here's my story, I'm looking for a new phone, read tons of reviews, decide on this one, read complaints about memory, end up here. So now I'm about to go buy it and "root" it. My goal is to save apps, music, etc to the SD card, not the internal memory. My understanding is that to do this I must root my phone, OK, seems simple enough. What I don't know is once it is rooted, how do I move and/or save apps, pictures etc. to the SD card? Please remember, I'm totally new to this so a step by step of some sort would be great or point me to one.

In sum, once rooted, how do I move apps, pictures, etc between system memory, internal memeory & the SD card and still have everyting work? I'll wait till I have the phone in my hand to post anymore but your replys will be the deciding factor whether I buy the phone.
Thanks!

You don't need root to poor music to the SD. A app called folder mount really helps tho & it does need root. I keep all my apps on the phone & most in system apps.

Anyone know how to port TWRP recovery to the lgl38c? I have been trying but have had no luck. It is far superior to cwm in my opinion.

I used link2sd to move all of my stuff over to my SD card.  This guide - http://www.noypigeeks.com/android/tutorial-a-guide-to-link2sd/ - really helped me out.  I would try going larger than 1 gig for the partition, though, as mine filled up really fast.  I need to redo mine anyway (4 gig SD card is kinda small, and when it filled up I can't free any more space on it).  If you need to clone an SD card or resize partitions, I use Partition Wizard Mini Tool (http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html).  Hope this helps you out :)

where is the link?

The link simply puts all of the data it can onto the SD card, unlike just moving it there under settings, which only moves the .apk file.  The link is on the new partition of the SD card that you just made.
