There seems to be some conflict here, so let me help:

    You're both right.

daddy366, ST Dog is talking about the standard ROM install.

ST DOG, the root method is done via a backup, which used to be cloned partitions, but now are tar files or dedupe. The standard ROM installation is still done by flashing a zip.

Great. Just when I thought I was figuring it out here's a whole new method to deal with.

    Back to square 2.

2013-06-13.21.57.10  is a backup file.  The file goes on the scdard in the backup folder of CWM

    clockworkmod\backup\2013-06-13.21.57.10

It is installed from the backup/restore, not as a zip file

Theres 2 ways to get rid of the triangle one is with a jig and the other is a paid app called triangle away....while that will get rid of it the phone still wont up date as long as you have a custom recovery on it.......... until we test the custom recovery  a little more before we release it theres no way to get the update for the phone............

So basically I'm screwed? What if I don't want a "custom recovery" on it and just want to go back to stock so I can get my update?

If you didnt want the custom recovery and rom then you never should of install either one of them

Most of the time, the updates are useless anyways. ST likes disabling features as opposed to fixing things. These guys are working on getting the stock recovery back, which with the stock boot.img, should clear the triangle.

If you followed the a51 directions to root your Centura, then I don't think you did anything wrong cause you have to first install a custom recovery to flash a rooted ROM.

I believe if the phone stock but it does not have the stock recovery (eg it has CWM or TWRP), then the update will still fail.

correct.. my step son is running the original root stock odexed files and his fails.  IMO unless someone is gonna build a new Rom from scratch you're going to have to choose between out of the box with updates or custom and rooted.

the only problem with building a new rom with the updates is thats all that can be added to it ...there really isnt much more that can be done with it till we can get JB, KK ,or cm10 working for it.........any ideas im all ears

well i ended up replacing CWM with the other one that was posted and it is all fine now, no constant updates making my screen kill my battery. I just wanted to root it to fix the voltage issue with the phone, constantly dieing even after I turn all excess programs off including gps and bluetooth and wifi... Ill go to bed and in a few hours be woke up with beeping from it dieing. but since im a novice and couldnt even manage that I will wait to see about either learning more or getting a new phone, I like it and all just cant have access to a charger 24/7. OH and water is not blue its technically clear, its only blue from the reflection of the sky.
