    Thanks Again Lael !!
    I browsed all the links you replied with just now, but have also spent a bunch of time today with searches and found several pertinent answers.
    There are actually apps for making flashable zips - though none seem complete for what I sought.

    Example=>
    ZipMe, which is in beta and has been for quite a while, it seems:

    Most of the manual solutions are far more work than I care to devote for this...except for a single paid app called 'Nandroid Manager Pro' which looks very complete in what it can do.
    It seems to have a limited/free version so I may try that just to see what it can do.
    There is an article about it here=>

    What was really the most arduous in making the original MP3 player from the Fuel was actually removing all the excess crud;
    that was my main motivation in asking - because I had to use multiple root tools to get around the system apps and so on.

    It took quite a while to remove all that crud - even Root App Delete could not remove some of it.
    QtADB gets around most all limitations though - I can be a real menace with that tool !!

    So - t'was the removals which had me wanting to do a full system restore 1st - and the few apps I put back in are trivial by comparison.

    Thanks Again !!

    No problem smallhagrid...

    Thanks for those links.  I'll have to check them out for future reference.  It never even came to mind about looking for an app.

    Once I took a look at the manual solutions, that's what I thought too.  Too much work compared to your own method.

    I don't know if this helps, but when I want to remove a system app I've used link2sd and never had a problem.  And there's always the option of converting a system app to a user app and then deleting it.   But you may be talking about removing other stuff and besides it sounds like you are well ahead of the curve on this anyway ...so I'll stop with the unsolicited advice... :D

    Anyway, I think your method is pretty good as it is.  And its tried and true  ;).  But if you do decided to try that app, let us know how it turns out...

    Thanks Again Lael.
    Early on I realized that squinting at the teeny-weeny screen was not good with me olde eyeballs - so I made a quest to find how to get it onto the big screen - which ain't easy - that much I did find.
    (I did make a solution using VNC & ShareKM via ADB - but it is laggy.)

    Instead I found 3 more killer apps - My Phone Explorer, QtADB & Android Commander - which all allow various levels of access, screen control & great ways to get tasks done.

    I download any Android app I want to use & always side-load them via those PC apps.

    Anyone who wants to use their PC to get stuff done may do well to try those out.

    Best Wishes.

    So easily too - since I had all the needed stuff right at hand already.

    Here is the exact procedure I used:

    Placed fully charged Fuel into the cradle...

    Get debugging & unknown sources OK'd.

    Opened MPE & added the new phone/user as my route to install all needed apps.

    Then...in this order=>
    Towelroot - SU - Busybox - Root Verifier - Apply SD Fix - Quick Boot - Flashify.

    Flashed Daishi4u's boot image & TWRP Recovery.

    Rebooted into Recovery & made a backup to get the folder naming correct.

    Deleted the present backup, replaced it with the desired backup files.

    Restored the desired backup - copied in the Int. SD card files  - reboot & check things.

    Minor tweaks & additions - but this worked perfectly & quickly.

    See you're still at it...Nice!  Thanks for posting the procedure so other members can know how to do it.  I've noticed a trend that people seem to be using their "cheap" devices mainly as music/mp3 players.  Lately I've come across a few Centura users who are doing that.  But not nearly as sophisticated a set up as you got going....
