I am running 3.5 and suffer from having some pretty sluggish performance and could use some more storage space. Looking to upgrade the factory sd card, but I have it partitioned to allow more usable memory space for the operating system as the tutorial suggested.

What would be the recommended procedure for changing/upgrading the sd card. Keeping in mind I know very little about this. I am assuming removal of the sd card would crash the phone at this point.

Also note I had some trouble with the original installation of 3.5 and never did clear the data like the tutorial suggested and was not sure if I could go back. I was just happy to get it to turn on again. I also do not have a factory backup due to the problems I had installing 3.5 and had no clue on how to do so.

That is correct. Phone is working however it tends to be very slow at times no matter what setting I use on voltage control. Apps like to freeze and I have to tell it to wait rather than force close and they eventually start working. Not sure if the problems are related.

Thinking I will upgrade sd cards and then try a fresh install from the new sd card and try and follow the instructions to the end this time without any difficulties like last time.

Thats the problem my friend u HAD to factory reset, wipe cache and delvik cache EVERY TIME wen u flash a NEw ROM .
Cause some apps and what not tend to interact with each other.

Same thing with partition a sdcard it needs to be properly/correctly partitiond.
also DONT link its data cause itll go slow i mean u can wen its a non SYSTEM APP

**I suggest to reformat ur sdcard as well format its ext partition too
u can do that with cwm **

Before doin that backup ur sdcard but deletes its data, delvik, dex ect from previous apps that you linked too

Its like erasing all of ur data, pics, apps ect from ur sdcard and make it clean/restorin its original format wen it was bought buts thats jus the fat32 where windows reconize it if u properly partition ur sdcard then uve got two parts ones the fat32 ect the other ones is an ext which can b ext. 1 2 3 4 ect (example: if ur partition ur sdcard and its 4gb then u would partition it half  so wen its inserted in ur device it only will show 2gb the other half ull use it wen ur usin the app link2sd or other similiar apps) but if u inserted on a linux distro itll show 2 mounts :)

U can format it on ur device by goin phone settings>sdcard and phone storage> wen ur there u need to first unmount ur sdcard then tap on format sdcard or u can do both with cwm as well :)

For formatin ur ext partition u can do that with cwm first go to mounts and storage wen u get there ull see mount /system mount /sdcard blah blah blah

U want to to format just the sdcard right... so its at the very bottom if u want to format ur sdcard click in format /sdcard
If u want to format sd ext goto format /sd ext

Thank you for the help. I will give it a try today and see what happens. I will have the new sd card in a couple of days and all its 16 gigs of storage space. Then I can do it all over again and hopefully everything will go smoother this second round.

If its new u dont have to format since its already on its formated state .

    Just partition ur sdcard PROPERLY:)

If not u can really brick ur phone messin within the  systems partitions.

I recommand partition it 2gb of ext. storage O0

B4 ur new sdcard arrive and inserted u
**NEED TO FACTORY RESET, WIPE CACHE AND DELVIK CACHE WITH CWM CUSTOM RECOVERY**

     ..later partition ur sdcard correctly

    Good luck!

All I can say is nice work guys. I just finished clearing the phone (like I was supposed too) and installed the Samsung 16gig U1 card and partitioned 2 gigs for the phone. Simply amazing the difference and now I have room for apps to boot.
As soon as I can put some money together I will send it as this was the best thing I have done to a phone yet. Thanks again to all those who helped with this successful endeavor.

Yep, its all done. Phone is working great for the most part. Only issue right now is finding a media player. For some reason audio keeps dropping out and loosing sync with every media player I have tried for an MKV file, have not tested on any other file types. Might be a new topic soon ;)

Not exactly sure, I created the files from a dvd rip with Handbrake to an MKV file with a video file and  two audio files that show as aac and ac3. The file plays fine streamed over my network to my computer and TV however on the phone both audio formats play the same with the audio loosing sync momentarily or going silent. Today I did not have time to play and rest of this week is looking even busier. When I have time I plan on trying other file types.

I also noticed that the 3g internet speeds are pathetic. I never tested prior to the root and rom but my upload speeds are faster than the downloads.
