Some Release Notes:
Read THIS:
Below are the Release Changelogs and the Installation Instructions. The second post in this thread will explain how to maintain AreaRomQ v2.1 and how-to setup
No-Frills CPU and the UI Rendering. I removed SuperUser in favor of SuperSU because ChainsDD seems to no longer be supporting SuperUser. I want to make a note
that I have actually purchased SuperUser Elite. For me to make the switch to SuperSU means I find this app to me a better alternative. I hope you all agree.

MORE NOTES:
Terminal Emulator; Font Switcher; Extra Settings (Spare Parts); Notification Toggles; and WIFI Tethering is integrated into Settings

EVEN MORE NOTES:
This Rom COMES WITH the stock modified kernel @800mhz!
There are two other kernels attached *876mhz and *946mhz kernels.
These are overclocked kernels and not compatible with all phones!
Your phone may only be able to run one of them... or neither. This is not our fault.
My phone can run both, but during testing some phones were only compatible with one
and others weren't compatible at all.

Please read all of the information contained in these posts before messaging me or asking any questions. I've done my best to give you all a high quality Rom
for your phones. I hope you enjoy :)

==============================================================================

==============================================================================

Installation Instructions (For Dummies)
*I strongly recommend you take advantage of A2SD and the extra internal storage that comes with it!*

Intro:
This rom uses A2SD to optimize internal space.
-A2SD when used properly will increase Internal Storage a ton. (I've currently got 180mb of free Internal)
-A2SD works by creating symbolic links and moves the majority of app data to the sd card as well as dalvik if you want.
-This rom uses A2SD by default (if you partition properly)...removing the sd card will cause a loss of Apps added outside      of the rom itself.
ie user apps.

However, the use of a2sd will not degrade performance at all...it simply frees a ton of internal storage.

You Need To Download AreaRomQ v2.1.zip
YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPARTITION THE SDCARD IF YOU HAVE CREATED AN SD PARTITION IN THE PAST!!!

Section One:
Okay so you want to use A2SD... AWESOME!

Follow These Steps Exactly!!!
Step 1:Backup all the data on your sd card you want to save to your computer.
Step 2: Reboot into recovery/Boot into recovery
(You do so by powering the phone off. Holding down the physical home button below the screen,
the volume rocker down button, and finally the power button all at the same time until you enter
             ClockWorkMod (CWM) recovery)
Step 3: In CWM/ClockWorkMod recovery go to the advanced option and select "Partition SD Card"
Step 4:Select your partition size. (I recommend 512mb though 1024mb will work depending on what you're trying to do)
Step 5:Select a 0mb swap partition size. (Swap is more harm than beneficial. DONT USE IT!)
What you did here was create an ext4 partition on your sd card for a2sd to use.
Step 6:Go to Mounts and Storage in CWM and select "mount USB storage"
Step 7: Restore your sd card data.
*Including the rom you want to flash*
IF EVERYTHING HAS GONE RIGHT UP UNTIL NOW PROCEED TO STEP 8... if not start over...
Step 8:Go ahead and wipe cache/wipe dalvik cache and wipe data/factory reset.
Step 9:Flash your rom... (install .zip from sd card)
Step 10: When the phone boots up enter your account information and let it sit until sync finishes...
-i.e. let the phone sit for a few minutes after putting your account info in.
(Your signal bars will be cyan and the sync icon will dissapear from the Notification/Status Bar)
Step 11: Open Terminal Emulator (It's preinstalled!) and type "su" *without quotation marks* and press enter.
-Grant Terminal Emulator SuperUser Permissions (HIT YES)
Step 12: Type "a2sd cachesdreset" and hit enter.
The phone will now reboot. It will take awhile...don't panic! The phone is moving and building Dalvik-Cache onto the SD.
Step 13: I recommend rebooting the phone after moving dalvik to the sd. Meaning... you let the phone boot up after it reboots from
the "a2sd cachesdreset" command. Then reboot the phone one more time. This helps the phone get adjusted to the rom and all the
benefits that come with it. :)

Thats it! A2SD is now properly enabled and working *Go ahead and check your internal storage :)*
Proceed to restore your TiTanium Backup of your apps...
In TiBackup hit the menu key and select Batch. Then Run "Restore Missing Apps With Data"
---Thats it :)

Congratulations you're now running AreaRomQ v2.1 with A2SD enabled!!!

==============================================================================

Some Notes:
OPTIONAL: To Install the Overclocked Kernels, flash the rom on and boot once. Reboot to recovery and then flash the new OC'D Kernels.

I/We hope you enjoy AreaRomQ v2.1 for the LG L55C (LG Optimus Q)

THE FILES:
==============================================================================

Release Notes:

Please run AndroidAssistant and set it to autoboost (via the menu -> settings) at least once an hour. This should kill that lag many have faced... *I highly recommend not using Go Apps, but thats up to you*.

There are two kernels available that allow overclocking. Both work fine on my phone, though, newer phones seem unable to run one or both of them. I'm sorry if this is the case for you. The 876mhz kernel posts higher benchmarks than the 946mhz kernel... though the 946mhz kernel seems more universal. AreaRomQ v2.1 comes with a stock modified kernel @ 800mhz.

Please set no-frills cpu to smartassv2 @ 876mhz and the I/O scheduler to sio if you can get the 876 kernel to run.

To maintain the rom:

Once a week or so please open Terminal Emulator.

Type
Code: [Select]
su and press enter.
Grant Terminal Emulator SuperUser permissions.
Then type
Code: [Select]
vac
and press enter.
Disregard any errors you may see as they will not affect vacuuming.

Also, please grant terminal emulator SuperUser permissions as above and type
Code: [Select]
sclean
This will wipe dalvik and rebuild it upon reboot without affecting the Dalvik to sd flag.

For the UI Rendering
Please open Chainfire3d and install the Graphics Driver.
Upon reboot you can use NightMode to make use of the UI Rendering.

Ignore the Click Here to Move Apps to SD Message from AndroidAssistant!!! Apps are already on the SD thanks to A2SD. I suggest disabling these alerts in AndroidAssistants settings.

Please let the Market Upgrade to Google Play on its own. You'll need to Open the Market and accept the terms and conditions to Start This Process.
If you begin to get Force Closes on the Market go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications. Find the market in ALL. Click it and then
Clear the Markets Data.

Should you get a Google Talk Authentication Failed message after putting in your account info reflash the rom... this is an issue in 1 of 20 flashes and is just an annoyance. Reflashing will correct it.

May running the overclocked kernels cause overheating? My phone seems to run hot as it is. According Android Assistant I've seen it get up to 43 degrees celsius. Not sure how accurate the programs are at reading temp, but I can feel it's pretty damn hot at times. So would overclocking add to that?

Incredible!

This is amazing work! I really love the new theme a bunch! and the OC makes everything SO smooth. The obvious cons are less battery time, and more heat, but that's a given.

I did encounter a problem though, but it lies in the stock OS, and it's restrictions.
Recently I was in Alaska for a few months, and obviously I didn't have any reception. So I was thinking the least I could use the phone for was to keep the time... No.  The time is set by the cell towers in the area, so when your battery goes dead, so does you're ability to keep track of time. This was a massive disappointment, that I know, has nothing to do with you. But in the back of my mind I was all ways thinking, "If I could just post my idea to the forums, then I might actually see this feature implemented" Well, I'm doing that now.

I've read your posts regarding leaving the scene. I respect the work that you do for us a lot! and I'm sorry to see you leave. I understand 100% if you feel this is the last time you would like to work on this phone. While it might be a bit of a bummer, it certainly wont crush my heart if you can't/don't add time settings. We all know how awesome this ROM already is!

Dave,

I might as well ask as I'm sure sooner or later someone will...

but before I do a few thoughts... once I was driving on a hot day (my car doesn't have working A/C) and was using my phone's gps and my battery was low so I plugged in to the charger.. and my phone yelled at me to disconnect from the power because the battery was overheating.  so based on the fact that overclocking will likely produce more heat (as well as decrease battery life) I probably won't try it.

but just in case I do.. I'm not really thrilled with green. I've kinda come to like the cyan and other than the overclocked kernels I don't see a lot of changes in 2.1.  anyway what I was wondering is will the overclocked kernels work with 2.0?

If it isn't much trouble, I've spent a few hours creating a black&white-cyan theme for this rom.

Here's the notification drawer V1.0:

Here's the notification drawer for V1.1:

MAKE A BACKUP!!! I'VE HAD TWO PROBLEMS WHILE FLASHING, THE STATUSBAR MAY BE DISCARDED, AND YOU MAY BOOTLOOP. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

1. If your statusbar disappears, then simply reinstall/restore the apk.
2. If you bootloop, make sure that you've cleared your cache/dalvik. (Do so) then re-flash.

v1.1 http://www.mediafire.com/?5jzp761d445h64v
I added a gray backdrop to the notifications. This eliminates a visual problem with black text, on a black/transparent background.

V1.0 http://www.mediafire.com/?oy1wl6bdwjos644

Now if you don't want this here, please remove it. I understand if you don't want me to share.

BTW. I get great stable temps with performance/946Mhz even with high cpu stress. It's always right around 35-50c which is perfectly fine.
A standard rule of thumb, is to try and avoid 60c+ (140f) for over an hour. that much heat can cause damage to the wrong board.

You're welcome to share it here... I don't care.

As far as your recommendation running the 946mhz oc kernel. Your temp recommendation is fine, but the 946mhz kernel isn't as good as the 876mhz kernel for performance. I really recommend people use the 876mhz kernel. The 876mhz kernel posts benchmarks 100-200 points higher than the 946mhz kernel. Also I cannot guarantee running at 946 forever won't shorten the life of the processor.

But anyways. I start my new job tomorrow so this is my last message for a long time. Have fun and enjoy the rom :)

I've tried your theme and it deletes my statusbar. Any idea on how to make it work?
Recovery>Flash AreaRomQ>Recovery>Install 876 Kernal>Recovery>Install your theme>No StatusBar

I just can't stand this green! Also, the ArearomQ letters at the bottom of the statusbar pulldown look un-professional to me.

On a side-note, I love this rom! Just awesome work!

I hope you have a great time with your new job jcole!

About the statusbar, all you need to do is have a backup of your statusbar.apk (like titanium backup, or grab it out f the rom)
Just restore the backup, the statusbar should be fine.

The statusbar is the systemui.apk... grab a sysui.apk from an older rom before you edit it with uot. These .apks can only be edited so many times before they get corrupted. Not really sure why that is.

Hello, I actually just flashed my LG Optimus Slider to v2.1 and everything was fine till I found out that the home key and the menu key were swapped as for their program commands. Is there any way to fix this? I'm more of a hardware kind of gal than a programming one so I have no idea.

Does anyone know where the wallpaper is located on this rom noticed there is not even an option for it just live wallpapers. I wanted to switch back to the stock one that came with this rom after using a photo for a background, and it is nowhere to be found.

Love the theme and how smooth my phone runs now. Only thing I've noticed is the "phone" app links to contacts instead of right to the dialer. I just restored the old cyan one from the last arearomq release and its fixed, but sadly, it looks out of place

I found it in framework-res.apk.
I tried to attach it here but kept getting attachment security failure.

Mdlovin I found the default wallpaper.jpg in the framework-res.apk, but it was not the background with the droid guy and the biohazard background. If this is the wallpaper please post the filename/path Thanks. I could always re-flash, but it would be easier to extract the file if i knew where it was located, anyway still a kick but rom much prefer this over stock.
