First off, I just wanted to say great work to everyone involved for making this possible, especially given this is one of those phones that seems to be completely off the radar and the typical methods don't work.

Couple of quick (hopefully) questions.. this is regarding the i827d (aka Galaxy Ace Q from Telus)

    1. Does TriangleAway work for this phone, or is there some alternative method of resetting the custom flash counter? I'm not 100% familiar with this counter, as I haven't used a Samsung phone before.

    2. Does anyone have a backup of the i827d Telus image? Suppose for whatever reason I wanted to restore to factory or at least restore some apps from it. I did make a backup through CWM but I completely forgot to do it before I removed all the bloat (got carried away even though I know to always backup first, oops...) so I only made a backup after I removed most of the bloat before realising my blunder. With that image (if it exists), is it possible to do a factory restore through Odin or would it have to be through CWM?

    Thanks!

No one ever said we were conventional here ;). It actually took a CWM build to root in the first place, when normally that goes the other way around. As for TriangleAway, we don't know. None of us are really brave enough to perma-brick a device to try it. mcabbet is working on a different method for pulling this off though. And we don't have any files at all for the 827d specifically, just the Appeal.

Yeah, I thought that was really interesting, because I was expecting the phone to be wiped and was really surprised that it wasn't. Great work on that!

I had a feeling no one would dare try TriangleAway, I wouldn't either, haha.. Glad to hear it's being worked on, thanks

      Deeper down the rabbit hole!!!!
what are the odds of recovery from a triangle away brick motorhead?  can Odin or CWM fix it?  text me so we can discuss the risks/odds of survival and where exactly the counter lies within the phone and maybe I'll offer up mine for a test run  :-)  I can only assume since it comes up before boot and in download mode its pretty deep in there... suppose we need a root method that doesn't require an Odin flash first... maybe pull the partition with no flash count from a clean phone or something
