      Deeper down the rabbit hole!!!!
so i've started officially building an Appeal rom and i have some ideas and would like to know what ya'll think.

    in no particular order:

    1) use the full 2gb of internal sd as sd-ext to clear up the rom storage area leaving external sd clear for personal junk, apps2sd should be dependent on where you place sd-ext partition so you could set it up how you like but thats my thought, it may not be necessary right now, but it may come in handy if i decide to go deeper into the rabbit hole of development and try my hand at an ics or jb source build, i have yet to consult with my oracle (Motorhead) lol

EDIT: i've determined after further research to leave this feature out of this build, there's really no point there's plenty of space on this device, maybe add it in on a later build.

    2) to be removed/replaced shortlist

    A) all att carrier branded apps, including quickoffice, att social net, att navigator etc. to get as close to pure android in a modified stock rom as possible

    B) kies air, live tv, ypmobile, vlingo, probably some others once i go through it, like doubled apps (i.e. music or music player, one is going, one may stay or both replaced with something better)

    C) default my files app will be replaced with es file explorer

    3) /system/framework and /system/app deodexed

    4) rooted and unsecured boot.img

    5) busybox and busybox run-parts (init.d scripts support) installed

    6) custom boot animation enabled of course ;-)

    7) /data/app enabled

    8) terminal emulator installed

    9) zipaligned to optimize RAM usage

    10) ok i think that should do for now don't wanna get too overzealous, K.I.S.S. for this build

    Hi Krazy:

Are you cooking from source or stripping the OEM rom down?

If you stripping it doww, get rid of the need for the SAMSUNGAMI that control the propiatary  qmg files used for boot animation and such, so ew can use the standard bootanimation.zip files. (took me some time to find the poweron.ogg for the dumb sound at boot and replace it).

Also SQL needs to be replace. the existing files like telephone.db are a mess (they are split into several db files) and control restriction of some functions like TETHERING.

so you might want to scrap them for more vanilla versions and allow control of the APN.

    ps

Chainfire said it was OK to embed the free SuperSU apk and binaries in custom roms.

Stripping stock rom down with dsixdas kitchen for now... my first shot at development... and supersu will be in it lol... will do more advanced stuff as I learn more, but I'm deodexing and stuff with kitchen so individual users will be able to tweak more to their liking... I just wanna free it of att/samsungs grasp as much as I can with kitchen and some minor manual tweaks to get some of the more noob users a lighter rom for now... far as I know I might be the only one really working on this phone so I don't wanna cut the users short and leave them hanging while I try to learn android development inside and out

lol you already have item 4 if you used our cwm and root method lmao, cwm is unsecure kernel i think lol, well my phone has unsecure kernel i'm just not sure which flash accomplished that lol... could have been the actual release version of cwm but i'm just not sure lol... went through probably 20 or so til we got it right... you'll have to wait for motorhead to post and confirm whether or not the final cwm build has unsecured kernel

CWM is unsecure, yes, but that won't unlock the system. KRaZy WaKa yours wound up unsecure when we flashed the boot.img via odin.
