the recovery looks the same as it did before "Android system recovery <3e>"
    Volume up/down to....
    reboot system now
    apply update from external stor
    wipe data/factory reset
    wipe cache partition
    apply update from cache

is this the stock recovery? is there a different way to get to the clockwork recovery? i did volume up and power....

nope thats the stock recovery...do the heimdall thing  and this time watch your phone when the blue line hits the other side hold vol up and power at the same time...let go of power when the logo appers then vol after it boots to viper.........dont take your eye of the phone as when the blue line starts it goes pretty quick...

Hey, I'm just saying here, for those of you who don't know how to root using CWM:

All you have to do to root your phone after installing a custom recovery is download Superuser.zip from Clockworkmod.com and flash the zip in recovery.

Bam!  Rooted.  It works for every single phone that has CWM recovery.

Root via the poot method installing Superuser by Chains. Install SuperSU by Chainfire over Superuser granting it su privileges to update the su binary and uninstall Superuser. From a terminal emulator you use dd the cwm recovery.img to mmcblk0p12. I've had zero issues song or this way.

Poot doesn't do a very good job for rooting the centura, it roots it but its not a FULL root, it causes issues with some things later depending on the mod, use daddy366's rooting method for the Centura and you'll have no issues whatsoever.

That's good.  I hope it stays that way.  But beware of running into problems in the future.  We have had many people run into some serious problems with the Centura because of Poot.  It doesn't fully root the Centura.

Noob. Picked up Centura w/Droid 4.0 free. Trying to root. Downloaded files to desktop on Windows. Extracted CWM tar. Odin 3.07.zip cannot unzip. File size =176k says it is not a valid .zip file.
Don't see any PDA place. As soon as I enter download mode, there is no box to check or uncheck, simply push volume up for new OS. Do so with verified data cable and it goes into download mode and hangs.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.
