Author Topic: Custom Ringtones

Topic Original "No modification"
My wife just purchased the Samsung Galaxy Centura - 3.5 " touch screen - Android 4.0 from Walmart
and we can't figure out how to use the custom ringtone that she wants.

Can someone point me to a how to or give instructions ?

Thanks in advance !

Maybe I wasn't exactly clear.
The ringtone that she wants to use she already has and it isn't one that is in Zedge.
How do I set a ringtone that she has on the phone SD card ?

Hi Imlright, Just drop the file the Ringtones folder and it should be selectable with the system selector. Unless it's an unusual file type or something like that? Standard mp3 files should play fine, keep in mind Android will read the metadata for the name rather than the file name.

Good luck. ;-)

You can download ES FILE EXPLORER and then when. You go to select your ringtone, it will pop up an option, press ES FILE EXPLORER and then it will pop up your phone's file system. Find the song, select it. And there you go :p

This worked - The wife is now a happy camper.

Many thanks !

Just for the record, I created another "Ringtones" folder on the micro SD card, and that also works fine.  All my mp3 files from this directory also show (along with the phone's original ringtones) when I go to choose a new ringtone.

You can place folders named "Ringtones" anywhere in your file structure and Android will pick them up as Ringtones. At least that has been the case on all of my Android Devices.

I have a Ringtones directory on both my Internal SD as well as External SD and they're both seen and recognized in system settings on both my Centura and my Infuse. My Thrive has Notifications on both SD cards for notification sounds and Android sees those too.
