    BEFORE CONTINUING WITH THIS AND SAYING IT DOESN'T WORK MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING A ROM WITH INIT.D SUPPORT!

    fixed chmod 777 on boot for all files in /system/etc/init.d

    Ok so I have seen your posts about /data/log eatting up your usable space and have wrote a init.d script to delete the logs on every reboot
    This should help you guys out tremendously on space for apps and so on...

    This also includes a MINOR Update to the sysinit file which initializes the init.d system....  for the Centura

    Use the Install zip from SDCARD to install this from CWM... that is all you have to do then reboot.  System and scripts will do the rest.

    Chrome is only browser I have in android. So I opened terminal, fired up my Firefox on Ubuntu, came here and downloaded the file to home/steve. Left the GUI and copied file to android folders. Went to recovery and flashed it. Simple eh?

    Straight Talk is really a pain in the butt for allow you guys to download from our forums straight to your phones, they have found ways to try and block the sites downloads on more and more occasions its getting to the point where you either have to have a computer or some other way to access the internet from your phone...

    i thought i had init.d support and could get this to work with 1b rom provided the latest kernel fix was also installed. i may very well be beating a dead horse here but let the beatings begin as i cant seem to keep these facts straight.

    As long as you have the latest kernel fix you can use this init.d script.
    However, you need to manually create the init.d folder in /system/etc if it's not there.
    Should look like:
    Code: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
    /system/etc/init.d

    i did all that. and its not deleting anything

    damn this is like deja vu all over again from the oc kerenel arc1.1 thread with all the init.d ruckus

    contents are as follows

    system/etc/init.d/

    1arearomtweaks
    2clearlogs

    1arearomtweaks
    Code: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
    #!/system/bin/sh
    #
    #
    #

    # SD cache
    echo "4096" > /sys/devices/virtual/bdi/179:0/read_ahead_kb;
    2clearlogs
    Code: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
    #!/system/bin/sh
    #
    #
    #

    # /data/log clear
    rm /data/log/*.*

    can someone look this over please, make sure i didn't make any mistakes? cause either init.d truly does not work or something wrong with the script or, i made a mistake somewhere.

    Did you give them the right permissions. Think they have to be read write and execute.

    All joking aside, regserv, make sure your init.d folder has the right permissions also. If init can't access, scripts won't run ;)

    If you have es file explorer you can go into it and then open the side menu and go to root explorer. A menu will pop up, go all the way down to mount rw and set system to rw and you'll be good to go :-)

    Unless you plan on running scripts on startup you don't need it. You will need it for a few extra tweaks or automating task you want done on startup, but most people will never use it. If it said read only you either didn't type ....     su (Enter)
    Or your phone is not rooted.

    If you use ES File Manager to get to side menu click on globe. After you click on root manager and make read/write (R/W) then maneuver to system/etc. Scroll down to init.d folder, long click it till it is highlighted with a check behind it.  At bottom right click on more, then properties.  Look at permissions, click change, give owner read right and execute permission. Leave the other boxes alone. Click OK and you are done.
