Author Topic: Odin stuck on NAND Write Start!! help

Topic Original "No modification"
Hello Im new to this forum,

I may have previously posted this in the wrong section, my fault.  I need some help getting my phone back working if possible.

My phone is completely stock and i wanted to root and install area rom.  I followed the instructions downloaded and installed the proper files in order to get CWM on my phone.  I also downloaded the pdf idiots guide and re-downloaded the files from there in order to check that i indeed had the right files.  The problem is when i run Odin 3 v3.07 and put the CWM tar into the PDA slot with reboot option unticked, i hit start and I get this.

<ID:0/003> Added!!
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/003> Initialzation..
<ID:0/003> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/003> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/003> recovery.img
<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!

and it just freezes there and does nothing.  The phone appears to be soft bricked, when i try to power it up it says "Firmware upgrade encountered and error. Please try again."  It will go back into odin download mode.  I don't know what to do,  I have tried googleing the error and some people say to reflash a PIT file and I was gonna try that but I can not find the PIT file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

redo odin over again and wait for the big green pass to show up

I redid odin waited 15 min and odin shows no progress.

Then i did this, "try downloading the tar file again and make sure the phone says downloading now do not turn off target.......then start odin up again" using Odin3 v1.85 and got this back from Odin.

try downloading the tar file again and make sure the phone says downloading now do not turn off target.......then start odin up again using the 3.07 one

Now im waiting again and Odin3 v3.07 is stuck at NAND Write Start not showing any progress after that.  been sitting there like that for 5 min, but i will continue to wait atleast 15 mins as tfusr19 suggested.

even tried twrp tar and same result.

if the stock files got messed up or deleted the only thing you can try is to do a factory reset from settings backup reset and see if that will restore the system for you

if the stock files got messed up or deleted the only thing you can try is to do a factory reset from settings backup reset and see if that will restore the system for you

Phone will not reboot to stock rom.  When i hold power button to attempt reboot, phone reads"firmware upgrade encountered and error please try again."

Phone will only go into Odin download mode, where screen reads, "downloading..... do not turn off target."

if you messed up the system the only thing that might work now is a jig and not even sure that will help......................if you cant get recovery installed in odin then your out of luck there.......why didnt you tell us to start with what you did to the phone to start with  would of made it a lot easier.....trying to figure how to fix it

I did tell you what i did in my first post,  I followed the steps, and the process just stalled for me.  I have rooted several phones, and used Odin many times, I've never had this happen, so I just brainstorming ideas.  System files being messed up is only a theory I have as to why its not working, im also wondering if im having a driver issue.  I just checked my device manager while the phone was hooked up to Odin and  eventhough it shows it connected in odin I do not see anything in device manger showing a proper andriod driver for it. Im just trying to think of what is causing it to not work and come up with a fix or ill have to go shell out coin for another device.  I may buy another one and make sure my computer is seeing the drivers for it properly.  Then try it again.   I can always just sell one of them and re-coop some of my money.

I will look into the jig idea.

I want to Thank you both for trying to help me out.  I really appreciate it.  If i get it fixed I will report back as to how i did it.

AJR1978, did ODIN finish - PASS OR FAIL?  Since you got blue box, I think ODIN is fine.  Did you ever have CWM on this phone?   My phone shows up as Samsung modem in device manager -  but I installed Samsung USB drivers for adb to work.
