Did root stick after the update? Yeah, from what I have read the 4.1.2 update was some performance enhancements and home screen rotation. Isn't this where project butter started?

Did you modify the updater script to force the install since the phone props is not what the script is expecting?  Glad I did not try installing it - thanks for warning us.

the partitions are not the same i knew that and looks like i missed some thing there  and yes i fixed the updater script and the build prop......

Hello, Well according to shabbypenguin over on XDA forums, the device (sch-r740c) which has the same first few partitions should be able to boot from SDCARD, that being the case, you may be able to save your hardbricked sch-s738c in the same manner, from research it requires a memory card of the same size (4g) class 10, and the first ~70mb of the onboard SD (memory) not sure if you have any interest in attempting this as an option, and to the best of my knowledge noone has yet preformed a test of this on a hardbricked sch-r740c either, but it may be worth perusing.

I'm not too sure this still isn't in some way viable..
From what I read it will require a 4gb class 10 micro SD card,
you would need to pull a debrick for you phones from a working centura
you may need to do aboot (haven't fully read everything, and some of it just poorly written by the op)
I did find a few posts referring to the SDcard needing to match the size of internal memory, and needing to be class 10.
I can easily see this as part of what you raw dumping onto the sdcard is partition information.....
it also takes some time to boot, and I read a post that said you may need to reflash the SDcard several times.
And this method gets you ODIN an nothing more, you still need a usable tar.md5 that will flash modem..
(one might be able to flash the 'full debrick' tar.md5 combo for the sch-r740c IE fully replacing the BL qc, oembl and appsbl)
Not sure when you attempted this fix, but If it was after my initial post, you may have given up on it too soon with too little info... and I would definatly hit up Shabbypenguin over on XDA as he seems to know more about 'true BOOM!'

Then again, I'm not all that knowledgeable in regards to this sort of thing so maybe I'm just overly optimistic...
