Author Topic: Samsung Galaxy Centura with Tracfone question on Wifi

Topic Original "No modification"
In the past I believe all phones from Tracfone had Wifi disabled.   Can anyone with a Tracfone Galaxy Centura confirm that Wifi works with their stock ROM?   I see it listed in the 'features' but just want to make sure it really is usable.

Thanks daddy366 and rfburns.   I'm looking at a perfect condition Samsung Galaxy S4 right now for $250 and sure wish I could have that to put on Tracfone but I guess I'll make do with the Centura as I don't see any info out there that would allow the S4 to work with Tracfone.   At least the Centura is Android OS but a bit slow compared to some other phones I use (although they are really just hand held computers since they aren't activated on any network)   Looks like I'll be buying the Centura in a day or two.   Got the LG840G right now on Tracfone and it's a nice little touch screen phone but not Android.   I can make calls on my non-activated Droid Bionic thru Wifi using GrooveIP - cool program but then you have to be in range of Wifi.   Centura will be my first activated Android phone.   Just not sure I'm gaining anything over my LG840G / Droid Bionic combo except one more gadget ;)

ST allow byo phone. See here:

AFAIK that S4 should be a go on ST. You don't have to settle for the centura, but once rooted and OC'd it's a very nice phone.

Depends if that s4 is cdma or gsm... I would recommend sticking with gsm for byop unless you absolutely need verizon... with at&t and tmobile sim cards on straight talk you still get 4g lte service... and unless they have changed their cdma byop in the last couple months you cannot do anything beyond 3g on cdma byop... a friend of mine just picked up a used AT&T Samsung Galaxy Express for $115 and its one hell of a phone for the money if your looking for similar features to the S3/S4's... I would recommend to anybody looking for a solid android phone on a reasonable budget to use on Straight Talk or Net10 BYOP check it out... oh did I mention it runs 4.1 jelly bean official? And I think its an AT&T Go Phone so it might not be too pricey to buy it brand new.
