Just to update you guys I have been rooted, since friday without issue. Still no cwm though. My sim lock is unlocked, I can edit my apn, tether, and whatever I want. Even change carriers if I needed- now $350 isnt bad for an unlocked galaxy s2.

with alil more work i think we can get CWM on the phone, first i gotta try to get wifi fixed fully and then work on CWM the wireless thing doesn't make sense as i used stock kernel source and stock drivers that compiled with it, will work on it more and see what happens though

      I LOVE TO ARGUE
this would be a great phone if it wasn't tracfone branded...

I really recommend people either grab a nexus device or use a different carrier if you're going to shell out this kind of money for a prepaid phone. Good luck with the st s2. I'm buying a nexus 4 next month. I don't want to deal with straight-talk/net10s lockdown policies on their branded devices anymore.

Really the only branding on the phone is the boot screen (and the little logo under the earpiece). As for being locked down, it's very easy and free to unlock after it's been rooted.

Ok guys I am now fully stock+root on this phone. I dont know how I had overlooked it before. After rooting all I needed to do was flash the stock zImage back to the phone, and presto fully functioning stock + root.

i read through the way he flashed cynogen mod 10.1 nightly,, it sounded like it might be a little to complicated for me, and a little iffy!!!   Ill keep watching the thread to see if it can be summed up in one download and a straight forward process, a lot of steps, and one step messed up would equal probably a hard bricked phone!!!

CM 10.1 should be updated today (according to the builders) to be compatible with our build.prop, and we now have the latest CWM that it works with available in odin flashable format. So it wont be a mess a now to get it.

Yes CyanogenMod added our phone to their build, so all future updates for their i777 ROMs will be compatible.

I've been running SHOstock3 for a few days now, and its awesome. If you havent checked it out yet go here-  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Its android 4.1.2, it allows multiple apps to be opened at once, and best of all MULTIPLE WINDOWS like the galaxy note 2. Plus much much more. You should check it out.

The CyanogenMod 10.1 has so many more features. I've taken a look at both and think that it's a great ROM. But I switched back to CyanogenMod. Maybe with more development. Also, I've read a few threads here that mention the "Multiple Apps" can be open and you can switch through them on SHOstock3... but you can do this on CyanogenMod as well.

If you hold the "HOME" button it will show you all of the apps you currently have running and you can scroll through them and choose to navigate from one to another.

The only things I didn't test (which I may switch back to do) was see how it works with my Sync system, using it as a wifi tether via Bluetooth, and if it will transmit text messages via Bluetooth. Currently the CyanogenMod will allow me to tether and connect to the sync system... but it will not send my text messages via Bluetooth as it did with the stock ROM.
