      Because I wanna do stuff.
I was just wondering if it was kosher to flash a 4.1 or 4.2 based rom over stock 4.3 on a device. Will I need to flash radio or anything like that or if the rom is well built should everything work OK (calls, data, LTE, Camera, extra)?

I have searched the web and what I could find is that it is OK to do this, I just won't have 4.3 though I'm still not 100% so I turn to the wisdom of aa51. :)

There aren't any radios on the N7 to worry about unless you have the 3G model. As for going back, I don't see why not but I am curious as to why :P

Lol I'm actually on a sero 7. Just so similar to the nexus that Google and tapatalk often think I'm on one. The device I'm asking about is the HTC One though. Expensive so I'm trying to be extra cautious.

As for why, I have my eye on a few Roms I'd like to try however most are on 4.3 nightlies and only have stable 4.1 builds (sprint version so no 4.2 though I belive cm brought 4.2 to the m7spr) I will be trying out a 4.3 rom or two and just wanna be sure I can switch back and forth. I plan on taking it out of the box and updating to the 4.3 stock then unlocking the bootloader and having at it. Also going to try out twrp. Just confused about build numbers and whatnot.

Also really paying attention to what roms are sense based and which are aosp based as I have my eye on some nice looking kernels for both.

This is my first high end device and I'm a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of dev support for it. So many options and so many people screwing them up. :p I actually miss my Centura, so simple with only one informative, reliable, and dedicated fourm/team for the device.

Ah... Yeah I understand your hesitance now. I say take the plunge with the nightlies, just pick a later one (newest is usually the best). I run nightlies on my N7 without much issue.

Ugh... I deleted my post... does vanir support the HTC one (sprint)? And could vanir be ported to the sero 7? Or would Roms for the N7 work on the sero 7 since they are so similar? Infact I believe the sero 7 pro is actually the 2012 8gb nexus 7 leftovers. :p

Did it get offical support for the rugby or did you port it yourself? Sorry to ask so many questions. There's slim pickings for roms for the sero 7 pro. Though 2 new ones just popped up bringing the total to 4, one I have my eye on is being polished up and the fellow is working on building a kernel from scratch. (Stupid hisense won't release the source code)

If I did flash an unsupported rom worst case scenario I'd just have to restore from a backup in cwm? Right?

Worst case you'd f@#% yourself by overwriting the wrong partions, which is why it's best to PAY ATTENTION to what you flash.

As for Rugby support, currently it's unofficial but give it a couple days ;)

Oh man oh man. So I got my One and within 4 hours I soft bricked it. Took me all night to get it fixed but I did it. And learned a great deal in the process. FYI though, you can't just flash a 4.2 or 4.1 Rom over 4.3. At least not with the One Sprint anyhow. I got my phone and updated to the latest OTA (3.04) and got twrp and root no problem. Then I flashed a Rom based on the earlier OTA (1.31). Every thing went well but when I got to the lock screen I noticed that the touch screen wasn't working. This was due to the 1.31 firmware using a diffrent touch panel driver(or something along those lines) than the one used in the 3.04 firmware. I got the touch panel software for the 1.29 firmware which is the same as the 1.34 but it wouldn't flash, though now that I think about it I probably should have flashed it using adb not twrp. Hmmm... Anyways then it got really crazy when I lost the ability to mount the internal storage couldn't get to my back ups and still had s-on. If I was s-off I could have ran the ruu for the 1.29 firmware and updated back to where I was. (I think) Though I belive there isn't anyway to s-off 4.3 yet. What I ended up doing was using a lot of different fastboot commands and was able to flush everything, reset my ruu, reflash twrp and flash a stockish Rom. Once that was done I was able to get back to my backups and restore to right before I broke my 500 dollar phone. Whew, let me just say whew. All in all it was kinda fun and I came away with a ton of new tricks. Just wish I could s-off and downgrade to 1.29 then update to 1.34 so I could rock bad seed custom's tranquil Rom. Guess I'll just have to wait for them to bring it up to speed or for revone to s-off the One 4.3.

Now I'm rocking Stock w/goodies rom and adw launcher. Though I really really hate running two launchers.... Hey motorhead what launcher does vanir use? Or is there a way I can easily replace the stock launcher with one of my choosing? I was able to flash vanir but switched because I thought I liked the blinkfeed and I do like the sense keyboard. However I might try thumb keyboard.
