Just wondering did you figure out a way to unbrick the 1 you bricked?
got 2 fails and 1 invalid argument and when i rebooted it hung
on the white samsung logo, no vibration or nothing LOL, glad I still got my
optimus fuel which runs like a charm.Never owned a brick before, think I'll drill
a hole in it and use as a trotline weight, I did something wrong and I like to learn from my mistakes.

I had everything else done and ran swapper2, wasn't sure about the partition blocks and thats when I
asked you, my swap block was listed as mmcblk0p3 in the terminal and you said to use mmcblk1p2 which I did and then I hit turn on swap, rebooted and bam, that was all she wrote. No big problem there though my fiancee says I got too
    many phones anyhow LOL!!

you already had a swap block on the phone........see if you can boot to recovery or dl if so we might be able to save it

do you have a sdcard reader so you can delete the partitions and make it just one again.....that may help bring it back to life......

Found this on the xda thread.  Not sure if its helpful but here it is...

My phone is Huawei Ideos X5 (U8800) with Aurora ICS 4.04 and kernel 3.08.

    Any suggestions please !!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry to know that you are having problems with your phone.

    1. If it says failed then that means your phone does not support swap partition.
    2. If your phone is not booting up, please do remove your phone's sd card and try booting again. Also, please check that your phone is charged as we have seen users posting about bricked phones and end up knowing that the problem is that the phone's battery is dead.
    3. As for you phone, I am sorry but I am not familiar with that device. Please seek help on your phone's general thread here on XDA on how to fix not booting issue.

PS. If the app has problems mounting sd partition or reading the swap file on boot which may be the cause of the problem, removing your sd card shall fix the problem as the swap file/swap partition is on your SD.

If the suggestions I have given you helped solve the problem, please let us know so we can help others if they encounter the same problem.

    Good luck!

I've tried that stuff and no go, whatever it did when you hit power on just a few seconds later it always
vibrated, now it don't even vibrate. I even stuck my jig in and it always would take it to dl mode,
but not anymore. I think I should say a few kind words over it and let it Rest in Peace.
I really appreciate yalls help and thank you so much..

Here is how i put a swapfile on my external sd and am swapping off of it. 1. Download and run Defiant 07 swapiton scipt as root, make sure to choose data partition, which is the internal storage on the phone. When the script is done running, using a root file manager, give the file manager root permission, go into the root folder, into data folder, copy the swapfile that is there, dont move it for now, just copy it to your external sd card and paste it on the external sd card, not in a folder or anything. Go into terminal emulator, type su then type swapon -p and whatever number between 1 and 100 which is the # for the swap priority. The lower the # the less frequently it swaps, the higher # the more frequently it swaps
So the command line should look like this. swapon -p whatever # you choose /mnt/extSdCard/swapfile. Next type free and you should see numbers on the line that says swap. If you see #'s then swap is active. If its active, then go back into root file manager, go to root folder, then into
data, choose the swapfile from there and delete it, that will put the storage space back into the phone that was used to make the swapfile. You wont need the swapfile located on the internal storage since we copied it to the external sd.

Yes, that is with running your swap kernel, so it does support both swap partitions and swap files. I know that there might be an easier way to get the swapfile to the external sd card, but since im a noob to terminal emulator, this is the safest way i found to do it so you dont accidentally format your external sd card, which i have done in the past.

One other thing i forgot to mention. After copying the swapfile to your external sd card, and after deleting the swapfile off of the internal storage of the phone, make a backup of the defiant07 swapiton script to your external sd card for in case you want to use the script again to make another swapfile, if you would want a larger swapfile. Then go into root file manager, give it root permission, go into the root folder then into initd folder and find the z99swapon script, its like 3.19 mb size or something like that, and delete that script from the initd folder so it doesnt run on boot

Ive seen 2 different procedures for setting swap priority on android, using terminal emulator, one method says to set it from 1-100 and another says to set it -1-32997 or something like that. Any help or insight into this would be appreciated. Thanks

After a little online research i found out how to change the default swap priority. The default is 60. To change it to whatever number you want between 1 and 100 with 100 being the most frequent swaps. Go into root file manager, give root permissions, then go into root folder then into
/etc folder, create a file named sysctl.conf then go and edit the file and type in vm.swappiness= and then whatever number you want between 1 and 100. Then save it. To make sure you did it right, go into terminal emulator, type su then type sysctl -p then enter, it should say vm.swappiness and whatever number you picked for the default swappiness. Hope this info is helping my fellow centura owners out there. Im still trying to find a solution of why a swapfile on the internal memory of the phone will read as the correct size when typing free into terminal emulator to see how much swap is available, but a swapfile that is being read from the external sd card is being read as being just a little bit less for some reason. I will do some more research and let you all know.

Thank you very much for the compliment. This is the best phone ive had in a while, even before having it tricked out w custom recovery and swap kernel. Its thanks to this site that i was able to resurrect this phone from the grave and make it even better than it was before, because i ended upwith a soft brick and actually gave up on the phone for a period of time until i came across this site and discovered that there was a custom recovery for it, i was able to fix permissions and unbrick it. Thank to everybody on this site!!!

Nice.  You can also use an app like 3C Toolbox (its what I use) to change all your sys.ctl/vm settings including swappiness and much more.  Actually, you can modify all existing kernel settings when in advanced mode.  I also use it to tweak my governor(go_hispeed_load, timer_rate,  min_sample_time, etc...) and other settings.   It makes it a lot easier than using emulater.  I play around with those settings all the time to tweak as much performance I can get out of the Centura.

Hey daddy366, I've been playing around with some scripts/mods but notice the OC kernels don't support some things like frandom (fentropy), zram and similar stuff, which I think would be cool on the Centura.  If you do decide to play around with a new kernel, could you consider support for things like these?  I don't know how feasible it is for our kernels, but it would be cool.  I've been using scripts for LMK, entropy (if you believe in that), renice system apps, adreno booster, flags tuner, scaling, flush engine, cpu/gpu rendering, things like that and so far they play pretty nice with the Centura.  Its running pretty fast and smooth, but like you, I'm always trying to push it to be better.  thanks...not holding you to anything...

Hey Lael, thanks for the heads up, i will check out 3c toolbox. I still havent found a solution of why a swapfile on the internal storage is read as the correct amount of mb and why a swapfile read from my external sd card is being read as slightly less than the true size of the swapfile, any help on this would be awesome.

This question is for daddy, which folders can i copy and paste from your swap kernel into say your 1.3 oc or 1.4 oc kernels to make them swap support kernels?

This question is for daddy, which folders can i copy and paste from your swap kernel into say your 1.3 oc or 1.4 oc kernels to make them swap support kernels?

As far as i know swap has to be compiled with the kernel....i just tried to add swap to my 2.0 and it bootlooped.......i can add it to any of the others but VC still only sees it as the 1200....so back to the drawing board

Ok, i just thought it was something in the kernel modules that had the binary in it for swap support and that you could just copy and paste modules into another kernel to enable swap support.
