Was wondering about if it was safe to flash gingerkernel for the esteem onto an optimus q running arearom v1.5? I'm sure somewhere i read that it could safely be done through cwm recovery by installing the zip file from sd card. is there anything else i should know about this procedure besides needing to know if its safe? My main reason for wanting to do this is that i am now interested in custom clocking my cpu. Any tips about that. Like the safest setting i should not go over (think its like 944mhz) i dont feel like melting my beautiful (on the inside) l55c.lol. Also any power settings that i should be aware of that are benificial?

Hey all I need is for someone to say "brick" and I back away. I don't usually try things until I'm darn confident its going to work, mainly because the l55c is my only phone at the moment.anyway thanks. Also is there some kernel out there that can be installed? that is the proper procedure for installing one right? also where's this notorious arearom Qv2.0? Its available for vips only at the moment or is it still being tested? I can't find it.

It will be out soon and the kernel that comes on the roms is pretty d__n good I'm sure there will be more but you really don't need more when the one you have is this good.lol
Oh ya I have a few phones I test on and I'm not gonna waist one till I think there's a good shot it will work and no one has tried yet that I know of.

Yeah i guess it would be unnecessary to do something...well...unnecessary if the phone works great. Also i think i meant to say the one for the slider, not esteem, i don't know dangit =^). It was mainly something i wanted to test the waters of(read that i could run n64 roms if it was ovrrclocked) it didnt work as the phone was, but it may have been the emulator i was using, or something of the like.  And i could imagine it eating the battery even more. Or if it did run n64 roms, it being slow as $hit. Not stressed over it, it just would have been impressive to see it run them, though that may depend on alot of different factors  :P

Has anyone been experiencing problems booting up. Since the 2.0 update I've been having problems freezing at the lg screen. Today I had it get stuck on the lg screen and then it would flash off like it was gonna go to the arearom boot image but then just flash the lg image again... then the next time it went to the arearom boot and then went back to the lg screen. I'm trying to isolate it to the kernel or the ROM I never had this prior to 2.0 however I flashed the new kernel around the same time so I can't tell which is causing it.

I actually never flashed the kernel posted here. I became uninterested in overclocking my Q due to possible "messing it up"  I waited until arQ v2.0 came out and see no reason to overclock anyway except for playing psone or n64 roms which i don't do on this device. I have no issues with the rom what so ever. Awsome. Maybe something fishy with the fonts wanting to never stop syncing? I just stay away from the fonts.

It's pretty hard to permanantly mess up your phone with a kernel when you already have a recovery. That's one of the purposes of the recovery, to save your phone with a backup file.

Not true. Overclocking the arm6 can permanently mess up the phone. While the kernels we provide have proven safe long-term, we have had an admin here (fester) literally unseat the processor when messing with voltages. You have to keep in mind the processor for our phones was designed to run at 600mhz. It was factory oc'd to 800mhz and we are pushing it further.

Speaking of OC, I was testing a new kernel for the Precedent lastnight in the Dev Phone, and it locked the phone so hard i couldn't even get to Recovery, i had to ODIN it back to Stock and then Put all the AR Stuff back on it, to even get into recovery so yes if the kernel is wrong you can mess up to the point of not even getting to Recovery..
