Oh, guys, maybe there is hope.  Any power up just stops at Samsung screen but holding down the recovery buttons gives me CWM.

    (CWM-based recovery mode v5.0.2.7)

This is good, right?     I need to donate 10 dollars with Pay Pal and please have an admin help me from here?
My wife will kill me if I can't fix this phone.  :)

Now I assume I can use an sd card to flash 3.4 area rom.    But someone please tell me exactly how to do that?   Do I format an sd card before putting 3.4 on it?   And do I unzip anything, etc.

    Sorry I'm such a newb.

You don't need to donate $10 to get administrative help but it is always appreciated :).

Anyways, since you can get to recovery mode, put 3.4 on your SD and continue on with the installation guide.

    Thanks.

So just put the 3.4 main zip file as it is when downloaded from this site?    Which option within CWR does this?  ( I don't have the list of options in front of me now.

I just installed 3.4 and so far this is what I see.

I did every step exactly and when I rebooted for the final time the phone does boot all the way to the new rom, but the phone is struggling to scan media (sd card),  and is stuck at 10 Percent.   And nothing works and it freezes up eventually.

so I took out the SD card and the phone boots much faster and the making calls work, etc.  But now it says "problem loading widget".

should it be all set now and I just just start with a blank SD card?   Should I delete files from windows and just use the card again if I want or do I need to reformat the SD card?

Sporatic behaviour suggests that ypur SD card is going out. How old is it?
