OK - been reading for a couple of days now.  I don't yet speak the language though, and I have hit a bit of a wall.  So I am starting a thread to see where it goes

My phone is brand new - LG Dynamic LGL38C from eBay for $20.  I have not even activated it yet - I am more inerested in using it to text and chat via WiFi than I am actually using it to make cell calls.   Also, I use it with Square's credit card reader via wifi once in a while.

I ran the "One Click Root, CWM and Unlock Kernel" (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login) and it seemed to go ok.  The phone rebooted and restarted, and now I have a program called "Superuser" installed.

Question #1: Next what I woud like to do is get rid of the apps that I don't need.    I have only installed 2 apps.  Square's register app (lets me take credit cards) and Textfree with Voice. (Lets me send text messages without paying Straight Talk for a #.)  As you already know, there are a lot of other apps installed.  I do not want to remove the default phone apps, because I will probably use it as a phone at some point.  But the music players, Google Books, ...2 email apps...how can I thin these out?

Question #2: I have only installed those 2 apps, but both times I got an error indicating that I did not have enough memory.  Both times I cleared out the small caches of all my apps (which was insane - I haven't even used the phone yet!) and managed to get the apps installed. I then moved the Text app to my SD card, but Square needs to stay on the phone for security reasons.   How do I get more space?  I read this (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login) but the instructions are a little confusing for me. ....first question is in Step 2, "Clockwork Mod is not an option!"  Did I do Clockwork Mod in Step 1, the "One Click" process that I linked to in question 1?

if you have done the one click then cwm is installed on the phone along with root (supersuser )...which you need......in order to boot to cwm you need to hold the vol down home and power at the same time.....when the hard lights at the bottom flash let go of power only till it boots to cwm.....then readthe havk post a few more times...theres a few different ways to tackle it...............

OK, so what I am getting from you is that I need to actually do something to make CWM back up my system before I go to step 3....Step 1 only installed it, but didn't run it.  Is that correct?

Am I supposed to boot to CWM and then proceed to step 3?  Or am I going to make a backup with CWM and then reboot and start down the list?

I am indeed reading it again and again.  But words like "adk" throw me, because I have no idea what that means.

When you say "boot to recovery," is that the same as "boot to cwm?"

theres the link for adb ...............

Thank you!  I downloaded it, and unzipped it to my desktop.  Do I just double click it to get it to install, or do I need to go thru the CMD thing? And what is adb, just for the record?

ADB = Android Debug Bridge  it make a bridge between your pc and the phone so you dont have to type on such a tiny screen................dbl click to install

recovery is cwm or twrp both the same except twrp is touch insted of using the buttons.......twrp not available for all phones yet..............

daddy366, thanks for all of this info.  After we do the backup in CWM, do we have to move the backup over to the PC before re-partitioning in adb?  Or is the sdcard user-file partition not affected?
