Author Topic: LG L38C SD Card

Topic Original "No modification"
Is there any way to access the sd card on the L38C?

I've got the AreaRom installed, it is rooted, I have link2sd installed, and I have a 16GB SD card with a 14 GB Fat32 partition first and then a 1GB ext2 partition...  Link2SD sees the ext2 partition, but nothing else seems to see the SD Card...   I installed X-plore file manager... it doesn't see it.   Under settings it does not show the available free space on the SD Card.

Is there a way to manually mount the SD Card?  I tried a couple of mount utilities, but none of them seem to do it...  can it be done from terminal?  If so, what is the command?   There has got to be a way to get this to work...

The files to mount it should already be in the ROM. On the Logic you go to internal SD then _externalSD. If it is partitioned into two parts it won't find the SD but if you make three parts like mentioned in the Logic board it will. It will never work correctly until we get a fully functional CWM built for this phone.

So how exactly is the sd card partitioned out of the box? Its a 4 gig card with 3.63 GB of space on "external" and 1GB on the "internal". 3.63 sounds about right for a 4gig card after formatting. So whats with the internal portion of the sd card path? After the 3.63gigs there really shouldnt be any space left, much left another gig, totaling 4.63 GB of reported sd card space. Btw these numbers are with the card that comes with the phone.

I've been through the OP's original issue as well. Best I can tell, what I have working right now, is two 8 gig (7.5 actually, each) ext2 partitions. And Aparted automatically for whatever reason always seems to throw a 1gig partition of it's own making into the mix. That makes the three partitions that the previous commentator was talking about. Because of this setup, two things are now able to happen. Firstly, Link2SD sees the "second" sd partition it wants to throw linked files onto... Additionally, a 7.5 gig /mnt/sdcard/_ExternalSD folder that the ICS stock camera app off play store, before I installed custom rom, was able to save pics/videos onto, now that I'm using arearom's custom for this phone, I can readily access this folder/partition for anything. It was just a lil bit more complicated before having to manually go to the folder through esfileexplorer most of the time for a lot of things. On Area's custom rom, the folder seems to be the default location for a lot of user data, namely camera...

Anyway, on a side note, I've been using the rom for a few days now, actually going on a week, and I've managed to basically kill my messaging functionality trying a dozen different ways to get the MMS to work... having not made another nandroid once I got most of my apps etc. installed, I'm gonna be working to find a serious legit fix for my messaging, without doing any restore, hopefully, and any help would be bangin... I'm pretty savvy and have no problem using adb, or cwm.... Gosms really didn't help me resolve my issues at all... And yes I tried several different things including freezing one/the other app back and forth, and having both running, and then even re-installing the stock messaging app apk, which is actually where I botched the entire thing... I can send text but since it's not currently receiving them, I can never tell if it is locked up or not. Since most everyone that sends me MMS has my personal email and is family/friends, I can do my own work-around for now so i can keep up with life. But any pointin in the right direction would be awesome on this MMS thing for the L38C.

It is broken in the Area ROM release from what I'm told.
