We have what we believe is a soft-bricked LG Optimus Dynamic (also listed as LG: Optimus Logic, L35G, Optimus L3, E400) on our hands. Backstory: my boyfriend had a friend root his phone for him. The root was successful. He downloaded a custom CWM9 ROM and imported it using the ROM manager. When he went to reboot it into recovery to install it, the phone came back on with the LG logo screen. We've tried holding the button combination of volume down + home + power and then releasing power when the backlight of the soft keys came on - no luck. I've been researching for hours and can't seem to come up with anything. Help?

ROM Manger bricks phones. Well it does when it is used on the wrong phone. The L3, e400, Logic, & dynamic look alike but are different phones. Some things work but not all.

I need to know more about the state of your phone. If you can get adb to find it we may need that to fix it. Try with the phone unplugged to hold all three buttons then release power when it vibrates. Does the phone function at all? Does it boot into CM9?

As previously stated: we have tried the aforementioned button combination with no luck. As also previously stated: the phone brings up the LG logo screen, but goes no further. I've been researching for hours now, so I'm almost 100% sure it's just a soft-brick. I've got a friend pulling up the LG software and he already has the adb on his computer.

good luck, as LG has not released any kind of recovery backup for the Dynamic in a compiled state, The Dynamic while looking like the L35G and L3 (Dynamic being a L38C) is a Different phone, as it runs on CDMA and will not run Roms designed for the L3 or Logic, there is only One Rom that currently works with the Phone and its on here, as far as recovering it from a Softbricked state, which it is in, since FASTBOOT is diabled. and you can't get to recovery, your other option is to take it back to Walmart and exchange it if within the 15 days, or send it to Straight Talk, (1yr warranty) for replacement, YOU REALLY REALLY REALLY SHOULD NOT USE ROM MANAGER With THESE PHONES!

I had a similar problem with my lgl35g and it would just sit at the LG logo boot screen. I couldn't get into clock work mod because the phone would restart so fast. I was able to get into clock work mod by removing the battery forcing the phone to completely shutdown and then put it back in hold the 3 buttons and boot into clock work mod where I then just restored my phone using a recovery I had made and backed up. What happened to me was not from installing a ROM but from making a series of mistakes resulting in everything on my phone being deleted. Hopefully this will help if you've not already fixed it. Regarding returning the phone since under warranty I'm not so sure the company covers this kind of situation due to breaking their Terms of Service by rooting and modding the phone .

Don't use odin on an LG, it won't work. Even if it does, it will likely cause more harm than good.

Depends on what was flashed. If you flashed over recovery that could be a problem. You might try the oneclick again to get recovery back.

Have you forgot to turn usb debugging? Its in the phones settings.

And when it said any key it means any key it can be enter, space, a-z any key. Theres no "any" key in the keyboard.

I have a similar problem with this phone(Optimus Dynamic). Rooted with superoneclick, everything has worked fine and still works fine other than recovery mode. If I proceed with the button combination it gets stuck on the LG screen. I did have rom manager but have deleted it. I was under the impression there was no recovery mode for this phone, but everyone else seems to be able to get it up? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I am what I am and what I'm not I'll never be.
If you're stuck on the LG logo, then make sure debugging is turned on, plug it into the computer, and run the oneclick again. Make sure you have enough free space on the hidden partitions (where apps are installed - it's on a drive you can't see even when plugged in using USB storage mode). After using the oneclick from this site, making sure there were no errors, use "adb reboot recovery" to try to get into recovery mode again. If you're still stuck on the LG logo after that, then hold the Power button down until the logo disappears then let go of the power button. The LG logo will reappear and should boot normally.

I literally just went through this, and so I hope it helps you.

Hello, I'm having a similar issue where after running the one-click-root on the Dynamic that it remains at the LG splash screen.  The one-click-root batch file seems to think it completed without error, but the file transfers were done pretty fast so I would question if they actually copied things over properly.  In any case, I did try the three button power-on (volume-, home, power), but the cwm never came up...just a black screen.

Any thoughts on what to try next?  I'm open to just about anything at this point, even if it is a really low-level hack.

I should probably add that I was attempting to get root to make use of an external sd-card for the system partition, since there was little space left after intalling the default apps' updates.  I don't know if the fact there wasn't much system space left caused the file transfers to fail, but if that is the case some check in the batch script might save someone else from the same fate.

I do have the latest LG drivers installed and I am using the adb executable that came with the one-click-root download.  I have the phone on (stuck on the LG splash screen) and then plug the usb port in.  On the windows command-line I run the "adb kill-server", "adb start-server", and then try "adb wait-for-device".  The last command just sits there waiting...apparently not finding the connected phone.  If I just run "adb reboot recovery", it simply returns "error: device not found".

Is there another version of adb.exe I should be using (I couldn't find one installed along with the LG drivers)?  Do I perhaps have the order of the steps messed up?

Thanks for the help so far.  As I mentioned earlier, I can't seem to get adb to find the device ("adb wait-for-device" just sits there).  If I run "adb shell", I get the same "error: device not found" at the prompt.

Assuming I were to get adb to find the device, could I just use the cwm.src file from the one-click-root download and rename that to the ROM.zip from your example (assuming that cwm.src is really just a zip file in disguise)?
