Ok so if you want to be a developer

as you saw in the first post you need linux and so on, and the dev install file i posted

Now lets talk about Setting up the Build Computer for Linux

    Partitions....

    /
    /home
    swap

your / partition is where the system keeps all the libraries and so on, this partition should be 45 gb or more

your /home partition this is where everything you DO will be stored, Source, Kernels, Pictures, Music. I am sure you get the hint. this partition needs to be as BIG as possible. minus 5 - 10 gb for the last partition

your last partition  swap  depends alot on How Much Physical Ram your DevBox has... so

3.5gb of ram or less use 10gb for your swap partition
3.6gb of ram or more use 5gb for your swap partiton

all Partitions except swap should be ext4 as this is the standard today for Linux installs..

I will add more to this tomorrow... enjoy...

You might want to mention the fact that Linux isn't required, it just makes things a lot easier and tends to be more stable.

Idk if this is actually a ligitimate question, but i'll throw it out there, is there a limit to the type of filesystems such as yaffs2 etc, that dalvik understands? and is there another type of dalvik java virtual machine in the woodworks?

Google is working on "ART" (Android Runtime). This will phase out Dalvikvm, while remaining compatible with available apps.

Basically, instead of loading the classes to a cache, it converts these (when the app is installed) to a form of machine code. This will cut down onbattery use and load times (by quite a bit from my limited exposure).

So here's a question... I successfully compiled aosp for the centura. Now does anyone know all the proprietary files I need to make it boot on the phone?

The vendor tree I have on  my github should get it close... I'll have to take a good look at it and see if something's missing/included that is wrong.
