I have decided that having the Google Market and the Play Services app wasnt for me. So I backed them up (Ti) and then uninstalled them.  Goin on 10 hours now with no issues and ZERO force closes. I also froze maps and disabled a few things in Romtoolbox (disabled recievers, and broke market links). So I was curious if there are any issues that I dont know about that I will be facing with this test. Any advice is welcome.

I guess that obviously you wouldn't have knowledge of updates for any apps you have installed. Which may, or may not, affect how they interact with any web services or features of the app that are upgraded over time.

I would think... But not being a developer, am unsure of how it affects the google services, and your ability to sync mobile contacts or other events to your google account.

I have never messed with removing the Play Store since I like having an online backup of all my contacts and calendar data, since I am consistently changing ROMs.

Let us know how you make out. :)

      make it so!
play store does not keep your contacts it is your email that is your online backup you will find this in your email dashboard but yes any updates that need to be done would have to be done manually or use another form of market but if you dont use apps honestly i dont see why you would pay so much for a smart phone if your not going to use its advantages............. to each his own but i will tell you that being that android is pretty much built around google i wouldn't think there are no repercussions down the line

Actually I do use Apps, and I have downloaded enough to choke the life out of my phone. The ones I actually use I keep  in titanium backup, the rest are backed up on my pc. I was more curious about living without the play store and services and if it could be done successfully, as I have read it is not usually feasible. I guess part of the appeal was in the challenge.

I hate to bring an old subject up. I am about to attempt this myself for the sake of ram usage. I see no reason to waste my ram on Google there to wipe my rear. Linux is the heart of my android. Not Google. I will post results if I have any luck.  8)
