I just wanted to post a heads up in case no one has seen this. Over on the Moto E forums on Motorola's site. this is the statement made by the rep replying to a question as to rather the Android L update would download to Unlocked Moto E's .

An OTA update will roll out to all phones that are supposed to receive it sooner or later, but it will not install on anything but the stock system.  Since the stock system has a locked bootloader, you must relock the phone first.

The installation will fail if any changes have been made, so no extra files, no missing files, no frozen files, stock build, and a locked bootloader.

    Hope this helps.
here is a link to the page but not sure it will work sense it is logged in on me.

That would be awesome. I also mistakenly bought the CDMA version of the Moto E (XT830C), and am considering keeping it around on KitKat, refusing the OTA update, and then attempt to find an exploit to write the su binary or unlock the bootloader. I know it's a long shot. But I have friends that are engineers, and I have some programming experience, and lots of free time, so it might be worth a try. I don't want to raise any false hopes with any promises of positive results, but I am actively researching it. I like to believe that anything is possible if enough time and energy is devoted. (And as aforementioned, Sunshine is working on it.) So if you are stuck with one of these cdma moto e's, perhaps you should refuse the upcoming OTA L update for now, and you might get lucky.

Great to here you'll be working on this and I really hope you can crack it , but as you said, not keeping up high hopes. So far as I can tell the XT830C is not slated for the 5.0 upgrade from Motorola. it's not listed on the upgrade page nor is tracfone or straight talk listed has supported carriers. I do hope it gets the update it's the only thing making me hold on to this phone. Straight Talk has stated it would unlock the bootloader after one year . my hopes is you may be able to crack it before then. got my fingers crossed for ya ma8.
