Redo your odin make sure reboot is un checked, after odin is finished hold vol up and power till it vibs let go of power only you should be in cwm .make a back up right away then you can reboot...if phone shuts off you will have to do cwm all over again.

Ok i will start this all over from scratch...

Allright Start odin and then flash it with centura-cwm-6028.tar

Once that is done i am then going to recopy all the files i downloaded put them
in a folder called root and copy that to the clockwork /backup directory then
i am going to do the volume up and the power button to start clockwork
and then do a backup and it should root the phone correct?

So its been about 3 weeks so far using poot. So far no problems with AreaRom's CWM I havent had to restore using cwm so far so im not sure whether or not i will retain root after a factory reset or once a rom is released. Im not sure how the permissions or user rights/priveleges are stored but if its not effected by factory reset (formatting /system. /cache etc...) maybe i wont have to reroot. I have obtained copies of AAR files just in case. I will let you guys know once a rom is released whether or not it will retain root after a rom upgrade/downgrade and any other issues that may arise. Thanks AR and everyone who is contributing their valuable time to giving freedom to the Centura

I applied the ota update after rooting and cwm warned about possibly loseing root but it didn't lose it.. u did have bad issues with the camera after ota.. had to restore my back to pre-ota then edit their backup and totally removed the camera parts.. thrn i installed the lg canera pro and all is well so far

    Just went vip for this!

Bought a centura on a whim and was disappointed with the dismal standby battery life. bought setCPU and dropped the max cpu down to 196 which slows things down a bit, but at least the phone doesnt feel warm in my pocket now. I am hoping that with some help from this site i will be able to apply a new image and/or kernel that will allow me to undervolt my cpu a bit and give me the ability to usb tether. (right now i can only get wifi tether to work..  which is fine for my lappy but i loaned that out and only have my desktop and no inet half the time.)

Thanks guys for all the awesome work you do here!

Can I ask how/what app you used to get WiFi tether to work with the centura? I can't seem to find the info anywhere. Thanks!

Why does centura.tar fail to flash and brick every time? I am a noob but capable of following direction. Good thing Walmart has a 15 day return policy on phones. I have a successful root with poot but wished to install the area51 rom. More than a little nervous about trying to flash cwm in order to install the rom. Thanks in advance and just so you know, you guys ROCK!

If you have all the drivers installed and the tar file in the pda box and theres a blue box with a com # in it,and the phone is in dl mod and plug in to your pc and you hit start it should all go well may take as long as 5 mins.

make sure your phones says downloading now do not unplug target, if it dosnt your not in dl mode

Could it be the "gadget driver". That is the only specific driver that I couldn't find?

I believe that I had all the sub drivers. I do recall though, I had a fail on base device or something like that. I am on a Macbook Pro running VM Windows 7. I don't know if that would have anything to do with anything.
