Author Topic: LGL38C Diag Mode

Topic Modified: 17/03/13 (03:55) pm
Has anyone else had as much trouble getting this phone to work in diagnostic mode?  After installing all the drivers I cannot for the life of me get this phone to be recognized in QPST or CDMA workshop.  I'd like this thread to contain these answers :)

Thanks in advance.

PS:

Tried:
*Installed One-Click Root
*Of course installed LG drivers.  USB & modem show up in Device Manager
*USB Debugging.
*Recovery Mode.
*echo 1 > /sys/devices/virtual/usb_composite/enable
*Around 20+ dialer codes, non which work on this phone.

I'm used to being able to dial ##3424# and it just working on most phones lol

Dude I've been having trouble trying to figure this one out for a week now!! When I finally decided to take the plunge and ask for help, there just so happens to be someone else in the same half sunken crad as me! I think I've hit about all 6 billion corners of the web trying to figure this out, and am at the end of my fuse. Here's what I have tried so far with no success, which of course includes all that you have done 5X over as well.

Did everything without root, then decided maybe I need root, so did it all again with root after superoneclick.

1. YES drivers, drivers, and different drivers including one recommended HTC modem driver. And yes made sure there were no conflicts rebooting a little short of a hundred times so uninstall reinstalls were clean.
1.1 YES tried the next of obvious things which was 3 different LG cables and even a Samsung cable.

I am simply trying to get a reading with DFS, CDMAWS, QPST...... So far I get a partial DFS 3 lines blinking red but worthless.  Response from above s/w's is that this thing is already in diagmode...???..

other things I have tried by guessing and/ or read surfing web that have not worked for me include:

*power must be off
*usb modem driver must be disabled (win 7 64 gives a popup requiring a restart when this is done for some reason)
*fastboot mode (tested with DManager too)
*dl mode ('')
*ussd codes (pound star codes, my bad if they aren't called ussd)
*double checked all baud rates and changed com ports
*tried all diag modes ie. Qualcomm, LG, WCDM and whatever else in s/w's (DFS reply is that phone already is in diag
mode)
*QXDM - downloaded and tried as well
*LGPST - Yup tried this too - **However there was something I read in the depths of the web that said they lock tighted this phone so hardcore that LGPST must be used in conjuction with a particular dll that must be sought after. After installed and dll file d/l'd it was said to use LGPST to send dll to phone, which will in turn unlock the mfg "chastity belt" I am calling it now. Don't want to brick this thing so held off. But my warranty days are getting closer so... will advise.
*UNICDMA, CDMATOOL -- negative results for me
*playstore MSL apps - everyone I could find followed by an Alogcat search filter of MSL returned jack nothing
*the proclaim getprop ril.msl not work either.

Think im getting desperate yet guys? I'm not sure how much longer I can refrain from having an lg 38c android sized hole in my drywall, so im at a standstill for the time being. I feel I'm getting close to the level of needing professional help from the person that has you lay on a couch and talk for having taken things this far.   >:( :-[ :'( :o ;D  :-\
Peace!

It doesn't sound like this is what you're looking but can you tell me if it works for this phone?

Yea pretty much no dialer codes work except for "*#06" for IMEI.

One note is, I can get the phone to reply to some simple AT codes over the modem.
To try: Control Panel, Device Manager, Modem, Find LGE phone, right click, properties, advanced/diagnostics, "Query Modem".  I am positive it is hooked up correctly, it just refuses to cooperate.   Pretty much all I want off of the phone is my NAM, APN, AMPS settings for straight talk so I can stop using this phone and use my EVO4G :o

Look in system apps & see if there is a app called Hidden Menu.

That's why the codes don't work. See if you can use the ones from the logic.

Not sure if you still need help with the diagnosis mode but in order to use it you need to be in safe mode first like on windows.   Turn phone off and when booting back up press and hold home button the menu button (left of home) and the volume down when it enters the tracfone screen.  You'll feel it vibrate 2 short times and one long time,  release after the long vibrate and it'll boot into safe mode.

LG has done a great job of ( trying) to make their phones hack proof but to no avail they have failed and will in the future.

I had little issue getting to the developer options menu. It was in an odd place.

Settings->Applications->Development

Turn on debugging and stay awake. Now apply One Click Root found on the following page:

Rooted with the following:

http://androidarea51.com/***-all-things-root-***-194/one-click-root-and-cwm-install-**coming-soon**-lgl38c/msg11025/#msg11025

Alternatively search for the following on this site w/o quotes:

"One Click Root,CWM,Kernel LG Optimus Dynamic LGL38C"

Enjoy
