You are both very welcome. And thank you to everybody and all your knowledge and contributions.
I was just wondering what else besides an out of memory situation would cause my browser to close, cause i couldnt imagine it being an out of memory situation. I havent done much in terms of mods and manual tweaks. I was hoping that this could be resolved through minfree and swap kernel.

Let's look at this logically.  You've said that it fc's on both stock and dolphin browser, correct?  If so, then I think we can assume that its not the browser, but just to make sure you should try another browser to see if it does it on that so that we can eliminate it being the browser (like daddy said, once he updated he no longer gets fc's).  I use CM Browser, which is super lightweight and fast.  Also, its probably not a good idea to use the stock browser 'cause its got a bunch of security flaws in it.

...I just read some reviews on Dolphin browser and several people were saying that after the new update it was crashing on them.  That might be your answer, try a different browser, like daddy said.

You've also said that it happens on both stock kernel and swap kernel so we can eliminate it being something to do with swap or the kernel.

Once you tested out a new browser let us know how it went and we'll go from there.  I said this before, but make sure your vm. oom_kill_allocating_task is disabled.

Yahoo, nice!  I've been looking for that.  I'll give it a shot, probably tonight when I have more time. Thanks.

The mod I'm playing around with has a zram script so I'll see how it does...

Thanks daddy! I'm gonna do some reading up on how much space I should allocate for the zram, best way to achieve it and other stuff, so it might be a little while before I test it out.  You know me, always gotta read, read, and then read some more before doing stuff.  But from what I understand, this is a better and safer way than to use swap...I'll report back...

Flashed it, but found a bug.  Lost wifi.  Went into system settings to enable it but won't let me enable it...keeps reverting to off...

Also, couldn't find the zram folder.  Where is it located?

You can edit your build.prop folder with a file manager (I use es file explorer).  I always make a backup of my build.prop folder and put it on my ext sd card and computer so I have my original build.prop folder, just in case...And because I'm paranoid...Just go into system folder and the build.prop file will be in there.  Your heapsize setting should be in there...Or there are plenty of other apps you can do it with.

zram basically compresses memory pages and puts them in your allocated swap area of memory, rather than to the disk...Its not known to improve performance too much, if at all, because it uses a lot of CPU cycles, but does give you more memory to play with...

edit> I should say it does improve responsiveness because its in RAM rather than on disk, but because it uses more CPU cycles during compression it may negate this improvement.  But still might get a slightly better performance out of it, and more RAM to play with, if that makes sense...

Yeah, that's exactly what I did and the only result I got back was the kernel.  Could be I didn't wait long enough though, can't remember if it was still searching or not..I might have been impatient...I'm getting a little brain dead right now and its still early in the day.

Btw, I checked out that script I have for zram and it allocates 96mb for the space, so it goes fairly easy on the system, which is good.  From what I've read, I guess the optimal sizes are 32/64/96mb

I found 2 spots in the build.prop for vm heapsize. 1st is next to vm heapgrowth and the other one where it says 5m 36m and 64m. The 2nd spot is listed by itself further down the page. Do i change both spots or just the one thats by itself?

I found 2 spots in the build.prop for vm heapsize. 1st is next to vm heapgrowth and the other one where it says 5m 36m and 64m. The 2nd spot is listed by itself further down the page. Do i change both spots or just the one thats by itself?

Not quite sure without seeing it.  The 1st one sounds like the default.  Does it say 24mb?  The second one sounds like what the rom changed (I presume you are using an Area Rom?), with 5mb=heapstartsize, 36mb=heapgrowthlimit, and 64mb=heapsize, correct? It would be under "Additional Build Properties" if I remember correctly.  If so, you would change the 2nd one, but to be honest, I would ask someone else just to make sure before you do anything.

To be honest, it would be a lot easier to use an app to change it and that way you could change other things very easily instead of messing with the build.prop file manually all the time.  There are plenty of apps out there that let you adjust a whole lot of things.  I just use 3C Toolbox because I find it has the ability to do a whole lot of things that most other apps don't, like changing TCP Congestion Algorithms or basically changing any kernel settings you want.  But there are other apps out there that are easier to use that you might find more to your liking....Just a suggestion...
