Author Topic: Boot loop (Fixes not working)

Topic Original "No modification"
I bought a used Proclaim that was not successfully booting in hopes of flashing CWM and going back to stock. I can get it to take recoveries and kernels from odin, and all of the zips I try to install from CWM appear to work. However no matter what I flash, it always boots to recovery (stock or CWM, doesn't matter). After installing the CWM boot loop fix, it just boot loops to stock recovery. Could this be a PDS partition issue or something deeper? My hunch is that the NAND might have some problems, but if anyone has seen a problem like this before, this proclaim is in good physical shape and I don't want to write it off yet.

(Also of note, the stock recovery sometimes says Deleting Cryption Metadata, and the screen has static when turning on.)

Any ideas?

Right, I've been through that post. That didn't help the 3-4 times I tried it.
I don't have to hold down any buttons to get recovery regardless of whether stock or cwm is installed.

Edit: Also, the phone says 'RECOVERY' verification failed after it flashes.

To clarify, I DO have to press buttons to get into download mode, but I don't have to press any buttons anything to boot into recovery. Since I've owned it, this Proclaim has never began to boot to Android - only to recovery every single time.
I have followed your steps multiple times from start to finish without success -- the phone just loops to whatever recovery is currently installed. I have also installed cwm-loop-fix.zip from cwm multiple times, but it just boot loops stock recovery after that.
I will find the stock kernel and see what happens. Thanks for your time, by the way.

I flashed the stock kernel with odin. Then I installed stock recovery, then installed cwm. Used the restore function to load the "return to stock" backup. Phone still boots to recovery every time.

I have not. This was a used phone, when I put it on Odin for the first time it was at 0 so I'd say that it's never been on it.

I've had it for less than a day. Bought it like this in hopes of fixing it.

Things I've tried multiple times: Install CWM, use CWM to go to stock, use CWM to install Area Rom, install new kernel (with MEID fix), install stock kernel, repartition with stock "hawk.pit", wipe cache, wipe dalvik, factory reset, and fix permissions. Also have done your boot loop fix multiple times. Seems like it's busted.

(I have a Motorola Atrix that I use on ATT, looking to change to cdma. I have used fastboot, adb, cwm, etc quite a but before ever getting this Proclaim.)

Well, it's no great loss. Thanks for the input. At least I got a 2gb microsd out of the deal. Would anyone on here want it as a dev phone? (I only have $7 in it.)

I've always wanted to try the unbrickable mod on one of these ;). I also have a serial device so I can see what the bootloader is doing.

If you really want it, it's an ideal dev unit. Hardware is all fine, battery, SD slot, and touchscreen. Just won't boot. I'll send it to you for shipping. (And if your tinkering doesn't destroy it, and you somehow get it booting, I'll pay shipping both ways XD.)

Let me talk with the financial "leash" (A.K.A my future wife) and see what she thinks.
