Hey, I have a galaxy proclaim from straight talk and wanted to root it.  It is the first phone I have tried rooting and when I followed the directions on the forum the phone restarted and never went to the ! screen.  It went black and when anything came on the screen it tended to just be various pixels or it would just light up over and over again.  I have tried using the return to stock instructions, but every time I use odin to put something on it it continues with the same pattern.  The only thing I can get it to do is hold the power button and down volume to get it to the install screen. I am somewhat worried it is un-fixable.

    I used odin3 v1.85
I first used ak51proclaim file with odin.
Standard samsung drivers downloaded from their website.
I have tried to get cwm on it but that has the same effect.
holding +- volume buttons and power doesn't seem to do anything.
    Tried stockproclaimrecovery last.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I tried again, this time I got a solid white screen.  If I hold the power and the up and down volume then the white screen comes on and off.  When I let go of the power button it just stays white.

Also a side note, it is not allowing me to put anything on the phone as pda with odin, the only way it works is when it is set as phone.  When you try to put anything on as pda it fails after NAND write start!!!

I am going to try installing kies instead of just drivers and see if that helps any, found a forum with a similar problem that that fixed.

    Didn't work.

Will your phone still go into download mode by holding volume down and power?

I am unsure as to what you mean by where did I root my phone?  I used my home computer.  Should be free of viruses according to malware bytes pro.  If you are referring to where did I get the rooting things for the phone, I got them on this website.

As to re-partitioning, I didn't the first time, but after reading some of the forums on here I attempted re-partitioning using the hawk.pit file in pit.  I also attempted using odin 3.0.7 and .9.

When I try to use 3.0.7 it doesn't fail when I use pda,  it just gets to writing and then stops and doesn't do anything further.  All three versions of odin I tried will install via the phone option but not pda, and they will repartition with hawk.pit.

Also, kies wont recognize the phone in install mode.  my computer wont read the phone unless it is in install mode, when I try to boot it normally it never gets far enough to be recognized as a device.

Theres your problem you repartition it. And theres no guides that needs to re partition just a grab the cwm file copy it in your desktop then before connecting your device into your computer you first enable usb debugging and install the usb drivers for samsung as well then reboot your pc lastly connect your device with the usb debugging enabled . Then fire up odin v1.85 click on the pda button and locate your cwm file re-partition, auto reboot and flash lock should be unchecked follow by phone EFS clear and phone bootloader update as well then hit start after it says successfully
Take out your battery wait 5 secs then install the battery back into its place laters go into cwm by holding n pressin vol. Up vol. Down and power button when you see the samsung letters in white release just the power button and youll be in the cwmr screen

ok I tried that and attached a screen shot of what it is doing when I hit start, it does this almost immediately.  I currently cannot get into anything on my phone.  I had debugging working before I tried to root the phone.  My computer does recognize it when it is in install mode.  So I did everything you said other than check debugging because I cannot access anything on the phone right now, let me know if something doesn't look right in the screen shot.  And thank you for the help btw, I appreciate it.

I can't find viper.pit, the forum with the links in it had the links disabled.  I tried hawk.pit and it failed again, same way as before.

The problem is I don't know what my kids did to it. It was in a cwm loop when I found the phone in a toy box....I used that zip to flash in cwm to go back to stock recovery and then I went to put cwm back on it...had the hawk.pit and I unchecked the right boxes put cwm in PDA...lol I've done this a million times and for some reason when I restarted the phone after the battery pull it just gets stuck on the Samsung screen. I can't boot into recovery but DL mode still works...so I try the stock recovery tar..and now every time Odin fails. So I think whatever my kids did bricked it or idk...I'm bummed out now.
