Hello to all, I am a newbie to the forum and to rooting the Proclaim and was wondering if I might get a few questions that I have cleared up in my mind? I want to root my proclaim to get rid of some of the junk that was put on it that uses my battery up in a hurry. I have turned everything off that I am allowed to turn off. But there is a bunch of stuff left that just sits in the background running  all the time, whether you are using the app or not, like Accu Weather, email ( which I don't even have configured), and I can not use Samsung Kies unless the phone is unlocked. I don't really have any real reason to root other than these. I have lots of storage and memory for what I do with the phone. As a matter of fact if I could get rid of the junk, I wouldn't care if the phone was rooted or not.

    Anyway, here are my questions:

1.) what to expect after rooting, provided everything goes as planned ? Do the menu's change, do I have to re-install any apps that I have      downloaded ? Will the phone act any different than it does now.

2.) Can I ever restore my phone back to normal condition like it is now?

3.) Will I have to install any apps even if I don't plan on playing with the ROM.

I have been reading for about 2 weeks on the forum, trying to learn all that I can learn by piecing bits here and there together and have got enough knowledge to root without much problem. But in all my reading I have not found how to un-root the phone, or what to expect once the phone is rooted.

Any honest and truthful advice, suggestion, urls, or pointer are appreciated. I want to learn as much about this subject as I can and I don't need a paper weights  for my desk.

Thank you for reading my post.

Wow. Really ? Nobody knows the answers to my questions ? Geese, I thought that it would strike up a conversation with someone that had rooted the Proclaim so I could get some first hand insight and meet someone on the forum. I guess they are stupid questions . Sorry !

Not to be mean, but we all have lives, and threads get looked over sometimes.

    1. There won't be any visual changes, but you will need to download Superuser if I recall correctly.

    2. If you want to restore to unrooted, you'll need to change the kernel, then delete the su binary, busybox and Superuser.

    3. As said before, Superuser is all you will need :)

I am having a somewhat similar problems. I open Busy box and it gives a message that "your system seems to be running slow this may take a while. "  It is telling the truth because it never stops checking, no matter how long you let it run. Now....Superuser seems to be working properly because it say "permission has been granted to busybox" and to Root checker. But both BusyBox and Root Checker never finish they just get stuck on "checking".

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Scotty
