This is an Excell (.xls) list I have compiled for the community which features:
pre-installed / system / bloatware which is safe to remove without corrupting/bricking your phone.

I saw a request for this and took the initiative to compile this list.

This list may change from time to time, as my knowledge increases, and when I am able to make a full nandroid backup, so I can further explore without bricking the phone.

I would like a knowledgeable moderator to review this and Sticky it so others may benefit from it.

Please note: This list is maintained for informational purposes only. Neither I nor AndroidArea51 take any responsibility if you use this list and mess up your phone.  Use at your own risk!!

Always backup your phone and each app before removing it, then you have something to restore should you mess it up!

Unfortunately for that, I have already removed this bloatware, and do not have access to another phone to retrieve original file sizes, how ever if you or someone else would like to list the file sizes, I will add them to the list.

You might want to edit it a little better. Example, remove the messenger and no text, yes with another messenger. A few other items you might want to research better as well.  Thanks for taking the time to make it through.  :)

Let me know. I appreciate help.
Things to remember about "safe to remove":

While it may remove that app, the now missing app can have consequences on other apps, such as removing the Music app can make SMS not work..

For a fairly comprehensive, 'generic' list, I use this as a basis of what I can and cannot remove:

    • Custom
    • Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate i577

From the MacMillian Dictionary: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

    "can - definition...

... 2 used for saying what is possible..."

    Thus, it 'can' cause it.

That is just one small possibility. there are myriad others.

And I think Moniker76 meant "thorough", not "through"

I thought moniker may have meant "though", but it's anyone's guess. (If you are going to be critical on other people's volunteered work, you could at least spell check yourself though, so you make sense.)

What errors would those be?  Everything on this list can be removed without bricking the phone.
(undesirable effects have been noted beside those which may cause them.)
So please be specific what errors I have made.

    I have a question.

If I were to go through the ./system/app folder and instead of deleting things that I don't want, rename them with a . In front to hide them instead. Would that keep them from loading into memory?

I tried it with a couple of pre-installed widgets and they disappeared from the list but are they really out of commission?

OK,  so I answered my own question.  It seems that even hidden app files are loaded in reboot.

However,  I did create a new folder and called it. /system/UnusedSystemApp

After moving some apps to the new folder they no longer load but are easily restored if need be by moving them back to the app folder

I just use Titanium Backup Pro, makes it easy with a simple click, to backup, restore, or freeze an app.

The Impossible is always lurking in the shadows
Also remember when removing bloatware in a de-odexed rom removing the app from /system/app and rebooting does not "Fully" Remove the app much of the app itself is still there in /data and in /cache and even 2-3 other places on the device even after a reboot because as Phydeux said it requires certain drivers from some system apps to run others this is similar to how Linux requires dependencies of other stock installed software to run others. That said Reboot into CWM clear dalvik, and cache then reboot I think you will find many issues arise from previously innocuous apps. This may have already been done by many of you this is merely a precautionary step. Hope I could help ^_^

Handy but not at the same time. I don't think you can rightfully call it a "Safe to remove" app list unless they can be removed without impeding any system function.... I try to use my head and remove things that shouldn't bother other functions.. Some things like TTS service I found made my phone buggy for "a little while".... then the system seemed to learn to work around the missing program. I know thats far fetched.. but I can't explain it any other way

That's because you didn't clear your Dalvik cache after removing them.

Also the TTS items were marked as [NOT RECOMMENDED].

I see alot of co-dependent apps in ZTE, but not Samsungs (With the exception of TW garbage), the real co-dependent area is the libs. In my AOSP building, I had a device caught in a bootloop because a bluetooth lib was missing.

There are, of course, exceptions to this rule. My rule-of-thumb is that if it says "Service", "Provider", "Interface", "WiFi", "Bluetooth" or "Setings" it's best to leave it alone.
