Thought i would share for the fellow Illusion owners who like like to mess around and break stuff like me lol. This is a untouched rooted nandroid just unzip and place in backup folder under clockwork. FYI dont flash any of the proclaim kernels (duh) lol just used this to restore from my mistake. hope this helps and cant wait for an illusion rom!

I used the method from the EDITED:BAD BAD ROOT METHOD. And only reason I did is because I had not found this awesome site yet. I think everyone calls it the half baked method. Sorry I  wish it was area's way but clockwork and everything does work just fine.

Editors comment: Nandroid above had the half-baked BAD root, we got the nandroid and are fixing it now. New link will be posted in post #1 when uploaded.

Very new to this and I am not sure what I did, but I am pretty sure I f%^& my phone up.
Basically I am stuck on the "Arearom Viper Recovery screen."

Phone info: Verizon Prepaid Samsung Illusion.
    ----> How I got here.
    1. I rooted the phone.
    2 downloaded ROM Manager
    3. downloaded what I believe was a new ROM for the phone, through ROM Manager.
    4. It started to install and said I needed to reboot to complete and now it will not boot to anywhere but here Recovery screen. and (odin Mode screen)

I tried wipe data/factory reset and nothing.
I tried backup and restore again nothing.

I am pretty sure this thread will lead me to fixing my phone.
    Am I correct?
If yes, after I download the "Nandroid" How do I "place in backup folder under clockwork"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dont use ROM manager on this phones there not supported. Ull might brick or mess it up

Try downloadin the nandroid backup then extract it on your computer there will b a folder named clockworkmod copy the whole folder name "clockworkmod" into ur sdcard go to backup and restore > then hit restore find clockworkmod folder or itll automatically will take u there then hit install, yes if its all good then ull be up and runnin if not the its soft/hard brick.... by ROM MANAGER!!

:D you went wrong with ROM Manager. Anyways, try installing the ROM then restoring the stock recovery. If that doesn't work, we'll need to go deeper.

Thank you Very Much!! This site is AWESOME!!!;D

I found a different thread here on androidarea51 and was able to wipe everything and returned the phone to stock. I read on that very same thread, that ROM Manager is in fact SATAN... And now I know this to be true!

Can I still use the nandroid download from the stock settings? If so How would I go about this?

that is typical installing the proclaim in the illusion. my buddy's phone had been that way for months but works great. You can try restoring the boot.img only from an illusion nand and that might fix it. I've never gotten the chance tho test on my buddy's phone.

in the systemui.apk are the signal icons located the drawable-mdpi folder named stat_sys_signal_1 and
stat_sys_signal_1_fully and so forth, you can make them all the fully color by some copying and renaming

Extract the apk with 7zip, make your changes, then open the apk as an archive and drag the changed folder into 7zip in the right place and close 7 zip. With a root browser go to system/apps and paste over writing the current one and reboot. If you freeze before you can reboot just hold the power button until it reboots about 5 to 10 seconds
