--- I'm having problems figuring out how to post in the general Samsung phone category, so hopefully a mod can move this to the correct location?

Just thought I'd throw this up as I've now tested and found this method to work on a Straight Talk branded Galaxy SIII (Verizon towers).

    FROM PC:

Root using cydiaimpactor (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
    - Very simple... Install cydiaimpactor and select USB > Scan for drivers (plug your phone in beforehand) and wait for it to finish installing drivers. Then click start. Once it completes, download SuperSU from the Google Play Store.

    FROM PHONE:

Install EZ Recovery ( You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login ) and download CWM for the Verizon Galaxy SIII ( You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login ).

    - Open EZ Recovery, select the recovery image, and flash.

Install ROM Manager from the Google Play Store.
    - You can use ROMs made for the Verizon SIII... However there are some issues, such as:

CM 10.2 won't activate, as in, you can't dial *22890 to program your phone. This seems to be partially fixed in the CM 11 nightlies. I still can not dial *22890 but after selecting NV in mobile network settings, the cdma radio kicks in and seems to automatically program. I can make and receive calls, receive and send sms/mms, and have data.

Cyanogenmod downloads for the VZW Galaxy SIII

Experiment with builds... I've had little problem with the CM 11 nightly. Be sure to make a backup before messing around!!! Backups are saved to mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backups

I'd also like to note that I am only consolidating the information from a few scattered posts. Thanks goes out to the fellas who figured it all out first!

You can install CM 10.1 stable, wait for your phone to automatically program, and then update to CM 10.2.1 through the update channel in About Phone. Haven't tried any other ROMs besides Cyanogenmod as of yet, but most any d2vzw ROM should do the trick.

To get data working. Go to mobile networks check NV than toggle airplane mode... Wait for it.... Bingo 3g! Than flash quantum kernal and have fun!
Also, some S3 have a problems with the camera not working with aosp ROMs and a fix for that is to take the camera data folder and the SlimISP_HP.bin file from stock TW ROM and overwrite the camera data folder in the asop ROM and add the bin file to data. However.. This only works for jb roms

I can say that on Cyanogenmod 11 (4.4) nightly, the camera worked fine, as did all data and phone features. Couldn't really find anything that didn't work besides OTA activation and a few settings. As I pointed out in the original post, and evertking did as well, be sure to toggle over to NV in the mobile network settings - otherwise the ROM is trying to access the SIM card slot for programming.

Yeah, info on this phone is spread out. The stock tar is posted and is the one thing I would for sure have on hand. I have had to restore a few times. I'm not sure why but ktoonz kernel bricks my phone every time.. But some get it to work.
I would really like to see an Area ROM TW or AOSP.    :D

I have been playing around with aosp kk roms trying to figure out why mms will not work no matter what I try without the use of 3rd party apps and even than its hit or miss, depending which rom and which base it uses. I'm stummped and can't figurre out why some do and some don't.
Anyway.. 8sms, a 3rd party app, with a tracfone apn works and its not full of frilly stuff, bloat and adds.. actually .. I think the app says its taken from CM 10.2.
I will post up a shot of the apn I'm using and if anyone knows something I could try  to get this to work.. I'm all ears.

Yeah.. the are the same. Didnt you unlock some features on the centura that ST locked up? Maybe you could help me understand this problem I'm having. I am using the ST s3 and it is compatiable with all verizon aosp roms. On 4.3 roms mms works fine but when I use 4.4 roms I lose the mms and have to use a app to send them. With mms working on 4.3 it should be able to work on 4.4. I have tried changing the apn xml with no luck.. where else should I look? And is it as easy as using a file explorer and adding this tracfone apn to the list?
