      Rooted Samsung Galaxy S3
      • YourAdminPanel.com
I tested this on my own Galaxy S3 and can confirm it works!!!

    You will need:

    1 - Samsung Galaxy S3
    1 - USB Cord
1 - Computer with any OS
    About 15 minutes

    Step 1:
Download Cydia Impactor: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login and unzip it to a folder on your PC.

Step 2: Hook your phone up to your PC with the USB cord that came with your phone.

Step 3: Make sure USB Debugging is on:  Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging = ✔

Step 4: Run Cydia Impactor (Impactor.exe for most people)

Step 5: Make sure it says "# drop SuperSU su to /system/xbin/su" in the selection box, then click Start

Step 6: Install You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login from the App store

    Step 7:
    Your Done!

**Optional: Download and run You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to verify that you have root

I have an sph-l710 that has been unlocked and is being used on straight talk. Would this work for it as Well?  Does unlocking it convert it to the s968c guidelines?  Yes its Still the l710 I know, but since its now essentially a straight talk phone does the model # matter?

The s3 has a built in option to limit data usage. I set mine so I can't go over ST's limit for what they consider "Fair use" which is 3 or 5gb a month don't remember off hand. So basically they won't know your doing it unless you misues it and try to watch videos all day.

Are there any recoveries that I can flash without gaining root first on this device? I want to backup my stock rom before I root or flash any kind of roms, also I'd like to know how I can get an unbrick file for my stock rom just to be on the safe side, or if possible how do I go about trying to nake my own odin file from my stock rom, I have the stock tar for this device with the build ending in H1 but I can't find the stock tar for this device with the build ending in H2, I want to try what is in the post here about flashing this device made after Aug 7, it requires flashing back to the H1 build to gain root but I want to be able to have a backup or a copy of the stock H2 on my device just in case I have issues after flashing back to H1, I've read a few things like adb backup, from what I'm  finding I should be able to flash a cwm for this device then backup my stock then go for root and roms and have a way to recover from any problens with my backup or the H1 tar. I'm new to this and I'm sure I don't have the facts straight, I know that normally you get root and recovery then do a backup or adb pull but I was hoping there was a way I could go for the H1 but keep my H2, if I just flash back root recovery and rom it like normal I will be flashing over the H2 and won't have a way to get it back, I need a way to preserve it before I flash the H1 tar, I continue my search but I'm open to some knowledge from someone that can tell ne my options and what is a waste of time chasing, how do you devs do it when you start from scratch with a phone? How do you guys get files of the devices or push files to it without rooting, will adb backup without root keep all the stuff I need from my stock rom before I start?

You probably have the H2,  use Odin to flash the stock H1 firmware then it will work.

Hi there! I just registered so I could ask you for some help.  I went ahead and rooted my phone; great, easy instructions.  It worked fine.  But now researching into it more so, I realized how complicated it is and I'm too scared I'm going to mess up my phone.  Do you know how to unroot the phone?  I have the exact same one as you from straight talk.  Please let me know!  I've been looking online but they all use words, phrases, and numbers I'm not familiar with.  What drew me to yours was the post name.  I mostly just wanted to root my phone to update the os, but I think I'm going to just try to unlock it if possible.  Thanks!

If you are rooted then you are only a couple of steps away from having a custom ROM to update your phone, when you rooted did you install the superSU app from the playstore? If so then go to playstore and download the "EZ Recovery for VZW" app, then go to google and type "CWM 6.0.4.5 for Verizon" this will give you some search results, look through the different links, you are looking for the CWM that has
.img on the end, you don't want the .tar or .zip on the end you want .img. Download the CWM then when you have it  open the ez recovery app that you downloaded,  page right, on the next page you will see an option that says "custom" click it, then click the grey 3dot button, it will open your files, find the folder where the CWM .img was downloaded to and select it, this will take you back to EZ Recovery screen, click "flash" then click "reboot recovery" this will boot you to your custom recovery, when you get to the recovery screen, select the option that says "backup and restore", on the next menu select "backup to sdcard1" then select yes, this will make a nandroid backup of everything on your phone, this will save your device, if you ever have problems, you can boot to this recovery and select backup/restore then restore from sdcard1 then select the backup file you made and click yes, this will restore your backup and your phone will be fixed,

After you have made your first backup then go back to main menu in recovery and select reboot to system or reboot now and it will boot you back into your phone.

Now that you have a custom recovery you can now update the OS on your phone, look around, ask questions and find ROM that works on your phone and a Google apps package (Gapps), then store them both on your extsdcard, once you have them downloaded and placed on extsd you are ready to boot back to recovery and flash your ROMs,  in recovery select factory reset, then wipe cache partition, then select the advanced option then select wipe dalvik cache, when you are done wiping go back to main menu in recovery then select the install zip option, then install zip from sdcard1, find your ROM and flash it, then do the same with your Gapps, when its done go back to main menu and reboot to system(reboot now). Your phone will be slow at first, when it loads you will do the setup wiz again then you'll be into your phone with your new OS, set it up how you want it and enjoy.

What you trying to do? Root it, install cm ROMs. Do you have the h2 baseband?

With the info on this device that I've posted all over the web in the last year for the various ways to root this device, this can't be the only guide you found.

Your options are to keep H2 baseband and flash TWRP then the superSU.zip and you'll be rooted.

Or you can do the old but unnecessary downgrade to H1 then root(waste of time these days.)

@blazer64, they have the H2, that's why cydiaimpactor is giving the "signature bugs not found".

The person you were replying to is the guy that discovered the method to downgrade from H2 to H1 to root the device. He is the one that made the guide for rooting this device with kernel date after Aug 7 2014. Plus, the post you replied to is years old, it was a waste of your time to answer.

Also, the downgrade to H1 is no longer needed because the H2 baseband can be rooted without downgrading now.

Do some research because it is obvious that you haven't even scratched the surface of information available about this device, you've obviously missed a lot of details along the way.
