Hey has anybody gotten one of these phones yet? I got one for free and am working on rooting it. I need to know if anybody knows how to get the thing into 'download mode'? Or if anybody has any ideas on how to do so? Thanks in advance

Or has anyone already sucessfully rooted this phone by chance? If not, any ideas on methods that may work. I already tried Framaroot, but no cigar. I was going to try bin4ry root with restore but all the dl links were really fishy and most were dead. Any ideas?

If it has LAF partition, that is download mode. But tracfone's special crippled aboot may not allow you to access it (at least not without an OTA, or without special cable). Didn't you also have a fuel with no access?

Yeah, it appears that it does have laf partition. I doubt a $30 phone will recieve an OTA though And do you mean an OTG cable might work?

Assuming with the laf partition it would require some pretty technical stuff that I'm not really up to par with. Is zeroing the laf partition out an option do you think?

Yeah, I don't think it will do any good to zero out the laf until there is a successful method of access. The bootloader must first look for the laf, before it can find the empty partition, and then invoke fastboot mode. Various cables are mentioned while viewing aboot with a hex editor (56kΩ, 130kΩ, 910kΩ). Plugging in one of these (from power off state) while holding volume up should do it. But I never got around to making or buying the cable(s). So I can't actually verify success.

Ok I will make this simple. There is no download mode and no stock recovery, no fastboit and no direct recovery combo.

You can root the phone using KingRoot. Not KingoRoot. KingoRoot will brick your phone, KingRoot will not.

I assume you've already done this on this phone? And kingroot is that one Chinese method, right? Leaves an app called 'kinguser' (supersu equiv) after rooting? Either way thanks for the headsup man

There is a English version of KingRoot that is much better to use and read. You can find it on xda. I like KingUser much better the SuperSU cause it just looks better and is a bit faster. Have fun rooting!

Why won't anybody let you have one ? Lol, Yeah I kinda like the ui, and it would be pretty cool on the fuel (same phone I'm sending from)

Anyways, I have lg drivers installed but no adb (which I don't really know how to use either). If you can send me a tutorial on how to do a sys dump or guide me through I will send it.

Awesome! I can help you set up adb. Nobody will send a dump to me one cause on Howard Forums like ten people got angry when I asked for one and said it was not a rooting site. Do you use Google hangouts? It would be a little better to send messages with than send 1500 PMs.

No, unfortunately I don't use hangouts. If you could point me in general direction for a good guide for setting up adb and doing a sys dump I can prob manage. I don't have internet at home so I'll hit up some wifi and get it done there asap. And where should I send it when done?

No, unfortunately I don't use hangouts. If you could point me in general direction for a good guide for setting up adb and doing a sys dump I can prob manage. I don't have internet at home so I'll hit up some wifi and get it done there asap. And where should I send it when done?

I will make a .bat file and then all you have to do is run it and upload to MediaFire or Google Drive. Since you have the LG Drivers installed it should not be to hard to do. You don't need internet to get the dump but you will to upload. I will get that .bat file all ready for you. Should be ready in one hour or so.

So as absurd as this sounds...yeah...uhmmm...my f**kin dog chewed my phone up earlier today

I know 2 other peeps who have the same phone so I'm still gonna try to get you that .sys dump. I might just go buy another for myself also.

Wow that sounds nice. You should have called it and let it vibrate when your dig was eating it lol.

When your peeps do the dump, make sure they have the LG Drivers installed.

Lol, yeah she didn't actually eat it just chewed it up. Kinda weird too as I've had her for like 5 years and she's never really chewed anything up before. But yeah, was actually just thinkin' about it and wondering if I could still retreive the dump? 'Cause the phone doesn't really need to be on for adb does it?

You need the phone to be on but not the screen. You WILL need usb debugging enabled tho.
