I don't know why ST won't just get some higher end phones. I mean, ok. They're trying to keep evefything affordable, but if they got some feally good phones, they stand to make a boatload more with all the new customers tyey'de get. On the other hand, if the big 3 started losing customers to ST, they'de more than likely pull the use of their network so I guess I answered my own question

I goofed. Should have said Galaxy S II (The Epic Touch 4G is the same phone but is a CDMA version). Easy to root and unlock. Order a SIM card from ST and your good to go. Here's a question. Can ROMs for the ET4G work on the GS2 since they're basically the same phone?

If the hardware is the same if you switch the kernels with a kernel of the same base yeah they should. It may take some minor tweaking though.

For a reference I've run lg optimus v roms on the q and simply switched the kernels. Aosp just has to be an aosp kernel, cm a cm kernel, etc. The big thing is remembering to switch the usr folder (system/usr) as well. Also many times you may need to edit the build.prop some and grab the apn-config.xml from /system/etc and switch it out.

I may save up for the GSM TMobile GS2, unlock it and drop in an ST sim. Found a rom similar to VeNuM's Epic 4G Touch Hydra rom that I've been drooling over

Obvoiusly I'm just learning and researching all I can. I figured the easiest way to learn is to ask people that know :)) I've had to reinstall AR2.3 on my Precedent 3 times now because of trial and error. Luckily I haven't bricked it. I've at least learned to back up everything just in case using Nandroid backup, Ti Backup and Android Assistant

I mean the good thing about samsung and the s2 especially is you have odin and no shortness of dev support. I'm sure you'll find something you like that was made for the device.

I was poking around XDE dev and there's quite a few roms for the GS2 and E4GT. If I ever win the lotto, I'll have to get a few and send them to the devs here for an AreaRom development. I used to he all about the Moto Doids but the more I learn, the more I like Samsung better, even if the Droid 4 does have the physical keyboard. I'm drooling (not literally) at the thought of a GS2ish phone with a slide out keyboard but that's most likely never going to happen

Hello. I'm a noob when it comes to Android O.S. and I recently flash my rom and didn't have a backup for the original rom image. Could someone please point me in the direction to find the Stock Rom for this phone? I hate to have to buy another to pull an image off of it. Thanks ahead.

I have no idea what safe link is but if it is Tracfone ST or Net10 just pop in the SIM enter APN & your done. Don't call & tell them. Just do it.
