      I LOVE TO ARGUE
Okay... so editing .9's are pretty easy. THE BIGGEST THING TO KEEP IN MIND IS STAY AWAY FROM THE BLACK BORDERS IN THE IMAGES ONCE DECOMPILED...

    kk here we go:

You need either apk manager (easier for me to explain how to get working) or apk multitool from You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login . If that sites down you're going to have to google like crazy lol...

Just kidding here's the download link for APK Multi-tool.. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

    YOURE WELCOME!

lol, anyways to set apk multi tool up you'll need the android-sdk installed. Install that and the java jdk. If you can't figure that out you probably don't need to be attempting this stuff. That's not to put you down, but it's just to save you some grief. Once you do that, install APK Multi-Tool to its own directory eg C:/Program Files (x86)/Apk Multi-Tool/

Once you've got that done, navigate to the android sdk directory C:/Program Files (x86)/Android/android-sdk/
Click on Platform Tools and highlight everything but the folders in that directory. Copy them, and paste them in */Apk Multi-Tool/platform-tools...

Now you're ready to go... Click on the batch file in APK Multi-Tools main directory. This will get APK Multi-Tool to create a few new directories "Place APK Here for Modding, etc"

Take the .apk that has the .9 image in it you want to edit and put it in that directory (Place APK here for modding). Type 25 to select the apk. (usually typing 25 hitting enter and then typing 1 to select it). Type 9 to "Decompile". Then when it finishes go to Projects. Click on the decompiled apk, and select Res/Drawable-MDPI (or whatever folder the .9 is in).

Find the .9 image and open it in your image editor of choice (I use paint.net). Edit it (remembering to stay away from those black barriers). Go back to the batch (dos) window and select 11 to recompile the .apk. If its a system .apk say Y at that prompt. When it asks you if you want to copy everything over to reduce errors say NO. When it finishes compiling go into the newly created unsigned .apk in the place apk here for modding folder, and open it. Navigate to the .9 you edited and pull it out of the .apk. Then open the original apk and delete that .9 and drag the newly edited .9 in. Flash/adb push/ or replace the .apk in your flashable .zip and you've done it... congratulations you edited a .9.png :)
